Guest guest
Hello and Happy New Year to everyone!! Well 2000 was quite a year! I had alot of changes in my life, good and bad. I was taken off an imunosuppressant in Nov. 2000 and so now I am down to only 8 pills a day. I was also change from the immunosuppressant Neoral to its' Generic form Gengraff. That is going pretty well. I also tried working this year. I worked from April until August at our local little grocery store and then the store closed. I was working 30 hours per week at the end. I enjoyed it thoroughly, but was also very tired. I also had a review of my disability as I have been recieving SSI since August of 1996 when I was diagnosed with the autoimmune hepatitis. I sent my review in on Sept. 15th, and just recieved SSA's decision in the mail last week. They have decided to drop me from disability, they say the report they recieved from Mayo said my liver functions were normal, and that even though I have limitations, they feel I am OK to work at some sort of job. I am really quite scared, as Ihave not worked full time for a long time, and I will loose my medicaid, that is the biggest thing, as I will still have monthly meds and yearly checkups at Mayo. So the year 2001 will have some changes for me. But I cannot think negatively, I have to think postively. There is just that old devil in the back of my mind, saying, " what if you get sick again " SO I will just have to keep pushing him back and move forward. Maybe this will be a good thing for me, it is certaily not that I do not want to work, just scared too overdo it and get sick. So I want to wish you all well in you new year, and pray that those that are not well, either do better or get their needed transplant. Even though you are sick, you have to remember the blessings that God has given us, for depsite all we are still alive, and as long as we are alive there is still hope. Have a great day and have a Very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!God's Richest Blessings to you all!! Lori Cummins Liver Transplant 3~11~97 Be an organ donor; sign your card and let your family know your wishes!!
