Vonnie,

I had a TERRIBLE time with constipation after my first two

surgeries. This is one of the biggest reasons I avoid narcotic pain

meds. However, several years ago (while taking a lot of pain meds) I

started researching the options and found Magnesium Citrate. It's

available at Wal Mart or Walgreens (most drug stores carry it) and

it works extremely well and quite efficiently. I only use it

in " emergencies " , but my body doesn't seem to respond to MOM as

well. It dosen't taste quite like 7-Up, but it comes in a lemon

flavor and it carbonated! (there's a bit of sarcasm in that

comment). Oh, and it is really cheap (less than $2 for a bottle).

Anyway, once I used it, I was able to maintain with lots of yogurt

and prunes/fiber. I take a probiotic daily anyway, but while on the

heavy duty pain meds, they weren't quite enough.

Your back will feel much better when you get this straightened out.

Here's hoping it happens sooner than later!
