Hi in Woodlake!

What a treat to hear from both you and Elle today! Sounds like you are so

busy and that life is good for you, too. Be careful moving that fridge, Wonder

Woman!

Jamison is gone to camp which is a good thing for us both.My

inspection is this week so been working my a$$ off

Do you see the miracle happening in your life? What a difference a

year can make, girlfriend. Last year when Jamison went to camp you

were so distraught and upset over it and didnt know what you were

going to do and how you were going to make it with him gone. Now one

short year later, you are living life, and acting like a normal mom,

when the kids away the mom will clean...lolololol..

So happy for the change this has made in your life. You are doing so

good.

Just dont overdo...or am I to late? lol Take good care, and we will

see you at the pool party.

Hi All,

I've been really busy lately and hadn't been able to read and post.

GEEZ, talk about busy - I can't believe the number of posts and new

members! It's hard to catch up.

To Kam, and others that replied to my plea for help motivating

my daughter, Thank you. I am working on remaining calm and

consistent. Kam, when you have a chance I would love to see some

resources. That is a very generous offer. Thank you!

Jolynn…good work getting that surgical date so quickly!

Vonnie, I will be thinking of you and sending healing thoughts your

way. Remember I'm around the corner from NEBH, if I can be of any

assistance to you or your family.

Andy, Wow I can't believe you showed up here. No kidding, your book

has been sitting in my Amazon cart for a few weeks now. Guess I'll go

back and complete the order. I have started on some pilates work with

Vose in Brighton. Do you know her? She is having her second hip

replacement this Friday. She obviously has some things to say about

adaptive pilates.

, Guess what? Rand just prescribed neurontin for my burning leg

pain. Good call!! I will take it at bed time and see how it goes. You

wrote that you couldn't take it, may I ask why?

PA, loved your description of the " bathtub incident " !

Sharon, I am looking into my time off, so I can hang with you.

Edie, thanks for the update. I may try to get to NYC mid April. I'll

let you know.

, I have heard good things about Glazer and wish you well. My

PCP kind of yelled at me when I raised the issue of a birth control

patch. She thought it wasn't a good idea to start messing around with

hormone levels as I prepared for major surgery. I believe others on

this list have used the patch.

Take care everyone,

Ann

Hi Ann...

It made me WAY too sleepy at even the lowest dosage. My understanding

is that it has to be taken every 8 hours to be really effective, so

I'm not sure if you'll get enough help by just taking it at night.

Others have told me that it makes them sleepy as well, but that they

got used to it.

Regards,

when my doctor first prescribed neurontin, it also made me sleepy

plus it made it hard to think straight (and I definitely need to be

able to think to teach math!)

when I told my doctor I was having difficulty sleeping due to pain

and waking up with pain in my legs in the middle of the night, he

asked why I wasn't taking the neurontin. I told him it made me

sleepy. He said, DUH!!! Take it at bedtime!!

So, for almost three months now, I have been taking just one at

night and sleeping much better. The pain has also been better up

until about two days ago when I woke up in the middle of the night

again. The next morning when I got up for work, I was hurting quite

a bit. My husband reminded me that I had some lidoderm patches, so

I put one on my trigger point when I got to work and it helped quite

a bit.

I woke up in pain again last night, so it may be time to start

taking two pills at bedtime.

, actually sleepy is what I want...the leg pain keeps me up and

then I have a hard time getting on top of the pain the next day. I

had originally asked Priscilla to talk to Rand about something to

help me sleep...so maybe this will take care of both problems. I'll

let you know how it goes. Thanks! Ann

Yes, I take one 300 mg pill at bedtime (usually about 8 PM since I get

up at 5 AM).

The doctor told me to start off with one at bedtime, then after a few

weeks, I could take two, then after a few more weeks I could take

three. So, yes, apparently this is one of those things you build a

tolerance to.

He did look it up for me to see if it was ok to take with cymbalta,

but I haven't felt the need for cymbalta now that I have been taking

the neurontin. I have only taken three of the cymbalta pills since

getting the prescription filled in November. Thank goodness I have

not been horribly depressed! The cymbalta made me hyper when I took

it alone. I don't remember why I had worried about taking it with

neurontin (I do recall having taken them together one night, but I

don't remember why I later wondered if it had been a bad idea).

I do wonder if the injections have a depressant effect. It seems that

I get horribly depressed and weepy and a bit emotionally unstable

after having the injections.

The first time I took cymbalta, I bought plane tickets to the Bahamas,

so my pocketbook can't afford for me to feel THAT good very often!

I put one of the lidoderm patches on one night when I was in pain and

couldn't get comfortable, but I woke up with a horrible headache the

next morning, so I only use them during the day now (and only if I am

still hurting by the time I can take my first bathroom break).

I have been having some chest pains for the last couple of weeks. I

went to my PCP after work on Friday and he said my blood pressure and

EKG were ok, but I am supposed to fast for 12 hours and go get some

blood drawn. I hope I don't get sick again this year, because I have

pain management again on April 13, and that will finish using my sick

days for the year. I thought about waiting until then to get the

blood work done, but I could have the results back by then if I go

ahead and take the day off this Friday. There is no way I can work

half a day before having my morning caffeine!

Suzanne, my doctor had me work up from 300 mg also, but I don't think it's

necessarily that it loses effectiveness over that time, but more one of it

being better to slowly wean your body onto it. My doc told me it can take

several weeks before any pain relief is even felt -- you need to build up

the levels in your blood, I guess.

What a lovely gift idea Mel. I assume this is for two needy people

in Africa and not for your brother and his new wife. It's such a

charitable thing to do and a unique idea for people who don't need

anything themselves.

Cheers
