What does nystatin powder (oral) look like?

I finally got a local pharmacy to dispense oral nystatin powder. They

had not heard of it but I gave them the address of the mfgr. They

called back the following morning saying to come get the nystatin.

I thought that was mighty fast. And I thought the price was mighty

high. $85. With my insurance the final cost to me was $3.

when I opened the bottle the appearance was a yellowish granule looking

stuff. My recollection from 20+ years ago was a fine white powder.

Does it sound to you like they have crushed some tablets and foisted

them off on me? And does the price sound excessive? I thought

nystatin was one of the less expensive drugs.

you'll see they describe nystatin as a yellow or slightly brownish

powder.

==>The correct nystatin powder is always yellow. The white stuff you

had before sounds like it had talcum powder in it, which is for

external use only.
