Guest guest
i use a recipe i found in a college health text from the 50s: use a tablespoon of salt and a tablespoon of sodium b-carb per qt of water. fillbaag with two qts of water at 102* or so, make sure it is just above body temp as that helps keep parastalisis down and the enema easier to accept. the salt keeps the colon from absorbing much of the water and the bi-carb is soothing again making the enema easier to take. you dont have to take the whole bag, its not a contest, just what your comfortable with. hold it for a good 5 mins if you can. you should then have a good effective enema. fred
Guest guest
Thanks to y'all on the enema question. I've printed these instructions so when I have this problem again, which I'm sure sooner or later I will. I drank a lot of water last night and went really good this morning. Of course, I took Dr. Cabot's Liver Tonic with some organic apple juice and that may have helped. Susie

A plain water enema can help, but if you have epsom salts, use that per directions on carton. The magnesium will help relax your gut and ease elimination. You can also drink an epsom salt solution, but that takes a little longer to work. Guest guest
Susie, I take one qt. of luke warm water with 2 tsp. of un-iodized salt and drink that down. Within an hour I have several BM's. Guest guest
How many hours should a person NOT have eaten BEFORE taking a colonic or enema??? I have heard that if you cleanse too soon after eating that it can cause stomach upset. Any and all comments appreciated. Thank you!
Guest guest
When My husband begins to feel full, and the pressure to void gets high, I stop the flow and have him clinch his butt cheeks. He takes a few deep breaths, the urge subsides, and we can continue. It also helps sometimes for me to put my foot on his cheeks to help keep them from releasing. This is how we started, he doesn't have this problem very often now. Deep breathing, relaxing and attitude are big parts of the success. Guest guest
Robin, I absolutely agree! Rate of flow and temperature of the solution can make a big difference in how much fluid you can hold, and how long you can hold it. Massaging the abdomen area is also helpful. Guest guest
Deb Try yogic stomach pumps. After you have water, inhale, exhale and pull navel in and up to diaphragm. Then pump stomach. I also agree with keeping the water warm.
