Guest guest
Hi Lynn, While I don't have a problem as your boyfriend but I did suffer from IBS, I found MSM helpful in reducing inflamation, also of the bowels. If you do a web search you will find information that is is used in treating inflamatory bowel disease. I do not know the dosage or how often to take it for his situation but I would definately try this as soon as possible. If you know of any foods that he eats that is triggering these symptoms I would eliminate them completly. Not even in small amounts. When I had the IBS I began taking chelated calcium and magnesium. This also helped relax the bowels. These are the only things I know that helped me with the pain I had in my pelvic from my bowels. I didn't see any information in the file section on MSM but there is plenty on the web. And MSM is short for a very long word. It is a plant based sulpher, not the chemical sulpher drug the doctors prescribe. I wish you well and I am sure there is more help out there than this also. I would call some doctors that treat disease naturally before I take this medication the doctors are offering, but if he is that bad off, perhaps the medication will help untill he finds better treatment. Liz D > HI, > My name is Lynn. I am writing you in regards to my boyfriend. He was diagnosed with Acute Inflammation of the Sigmoid Colon & small intestines (or Inflammatory Bowel Disease). He can't eat anything and keep it in him, as it liquifies and goes right thru him...and then he gets these terrible sweats and turns extremely pale. He has lost over 50 pounds in the past few months. And I am worried if we don't find something soon, he will die. The doctors gave him a strong antibiotic to try to fight off any infection, and are supposed to start possibly giving him steroids for the inflammation. But they said they can only treat the symtons, as there is no cure. But they " haven't " treated any of the symptons. He is getting much much worse. I am writing this to you, as I don't know where else to turn. I am hoping you may know of some treatments he may be able to try. Or if not, maybe another source i may try to contact for help. Please, can any of you help us? Please!! > Thank you for you time, > Lynn
Guest guest
If I were you, I'd stop going to the traditional doctor and find a complementary doctor in your area. A complimentary doctor is one who is a trained MD as well as a holistic healer. Alternative medicine has more answers for this type of illness than traditional. A complimentary doctor will give your boyfriend intravenous vitamins and minerals to stop the weight loss and work on finding the causes of the problems....like stress, parasites, and bacterial overgrowth. A comprehensive stool analysis from the great smokey diagnositic labs would be a good starting point. That test can identify what's going on in the intestines and gives recommendations on what antibiotics, antifungals and so forth are effective for that strain. You can find a complimentary doctor for your area here: http://www.acam.org/doctorsearch.php The great smokey's diagnositic lab website is here: http://www.gsdl.com/ When I had irritable bowel syndrome and lost 20 pounds in one month, I found a complimentary doctor from that site who gave me IV therapy and it helped tremendously. The IVs bypass the intestinal tract and there fore allows your body to absorb the nutritients which they arent getting from the diet. Good luck, Denny > HI, > My name is Lynn. Guest guest
Lynn: I found this Website from the living foods (http://www.living-foods.com) Health-related discussion board regarding ulcerative colitis: http://www.colitis-crohns.com/ Dave Klein claims that " 100% of people can overcome this illness as he did! " Your boyfriend might have to drink fresh, live juices (nothing canned or bottled) for a while in order to absorb any nutrition. Guest guest
Lynn, first of all you and your friend are in my prayers. I'm sure others on this list can advise as I am fairly new here. If it was me and a loved one of mine were in such dire straights and would let me help them here's what I'd do: go to a health food store or someone who can refer you to a good nutritionist and also to a specialist who can give him a series of colemas or colonics and get him off drugs if possible. There is a good product called Primal Defense that can help the digestive system also. of Dewberry Hill HI, My name is Lynn. I am writing you in regards to my boyfriend. Guest guest
HI, My name is Lynn. I am writing you in regards to my boyfriend. He was diagnosed with Acute Inflammation of the Sigmoid Colon & small intestines (or Inflammatory Bowel Disease). Please, can any of you help us? Please!! Thank you for you time, Lynn Lynn; This is certainly not something with which anyone would want to live, however there are various things that can be done to deal with having such a dis-ease. Some of the things to do, I'm sure, have already been presented as things to consider. The first thing to consider here is getting the liver tithe foods it needs to be able to help in getting out toxins and helping in the healing of this particular problem while at the same time avoiding foods that tend to exacerbate the condition. Avoid all allergy producing foods such as dairy products, bleached refined wheat flour, and in some cases, certain types of nuts. Avoiding all saturated animal fats (much like those of which will coagulate when cooled, such as bacon grease), and all hydrogenated vegetable oils. Hydrated vegetable oils are found in margarine (it is a hydrogenated oil so it would coagulate to a solid mass), processed cheeses, and deep fried foods, these are major causes of digestive problems and those related to the blood supply system. There are various things to do to help in not only soothing the discomfort and pain of this disease but it also helps to get more of the essential fatty acids into the body by way of skin absorption. Doing castor oil packs can go a long way towards helping the liver get this necessary fatty acid for the production of HDL cholesterol and the production of a better bile. It is also soothing because of the way it gets the blood flowing in the abdominal area too. A castor oil pack is very simple to do and the material can be stored for the next use without changing it with every use. http://www.curezone.com/cures/castoroil.html The foods to eat are very simple for getting the nutrition the body needs. Perhaps the best for right now is a fairly liquid diet of juiced foods would be the best, and then seeing along with that what foods can be eaten to get a flow of dietary fiber too. This is the tricky part of this, as you already have noted how the food just 'liquefies and goes right thru him'. This to me is stating that the foods of which he's been eating are toxic and his liver is trying to dump a lot of toxins out of his body by way of a diarrhea. Taking antibiotics seems to be a loosing situation, and especially when considering that taking it destroys the good and the bad digestive bacteria in the lower intestines. This is even more true if it's just a shot in the dark, as an attempt to hit a mark. I'm surprised the doctor(s) didn't at least suggest that he also start taking a digestive aid such as a supplement to replenish the supply of good bacteria in to the gut. Antibiotics are also one more toxin, along with the dead bacteria, for the liver to have to deal with getting out thereby placing more of a burden upon it to do its job. http://www.theherbsplace.com/bif.html There are other things that need to be done to get the bowels to a condition to deal with the problem, but there can be various reasons as to just why this all started to happen anyway. A potential reason is an allergic reaction to foods, or toxins from parasites. If your boyfriend has traveled to another land for any length of time it is quite possible to get an infestation if his body was already compromised in some way. You might want to consider some foods and herbs that would help in dealing with that possibility too. Pumpkin seeds are one such food that can be eaten for this purpose, and are also enjoyable since they are quite tasty. Adding to that a supplement for dealing with parasites certainly wouldn't hurt because it is a food too. http://www.awarenessherbs.com/ There are even more therapies to which to look for help and they will not cause any harm either. Such added therapies as oxygenation by the use of medical grade ozone, colloidal silver, colonics or enemas with various herbs or natural yogurt added, and even blood electropolation (zapping). http://www.cybersea.net/users/hummmer/xfacts.html Oxygenation will go a long way towards the healing process as it will provide the needed oxygen in greater abundance for that purpose. http://www.newvitality.com/ozone.html http://www.o3therapy.com/ The use of colloidal silver is a more natural method of killing the bad bacteria or virus. I make my own colloidal silver so it is fresh and pure. So if you consider this modality I would suggest you make your own too. http://www.totaldiscountvitamins.com/Merchant/silverframe.htm http://health2us.com/colloid.htm Soothing herbs for the stomach and intestines can also help in dealing with this type of condition. Aloe Vera is known for its healing and soothing properties ( http://www.energizelife.com/info/aloe1.asp ) as are licorice, slippery elm, chamomile, fennel, and Ginseng. http://www.darcynat.com/digestease/ There is more to maintaining the bowel's health structure but this should at least get a start on doing things that will start the healing processes moving in gear. So, hopefully this will get you some of the information you need to help your boyfriend and you get over this crisis and be able to move on in life. Guest guest
What is leaky gut? And how do you know if you have it? Also what is bowel irritation, and how do you know you have that? Runs/constipation or what? Sorry I'm a bit new and trying to figure this all out. I seem to digest food or the food goes through me really fast, yet I'm not pooting it out. I go poot about 3 or 4 times in the morning and again later morning. My stools are not firm, well sometimes off and on, usually the first one in the morning is firm. Alot of orange colored stuff floating in the bowl with loose stools the rest of the day. Sorry for the gross graphics, but can someone help me understand?
