Guest guest
Be very careful who you let work on your back. If they make a mistake it might be uncorrectable. I've traveled for my last 2 surgeries because I wanted surgeons who are considered top in the field of spine deformatie ________________________________ From: M <n.mizenko@...> Scoliosis Treatment Sent: Wed, October 14, 2009 10:43:52 AM Subject: Re: Digest Number 2261 I live in Arkansas & I am havivg surgery in Little Rock w/ Dr. Seale. Guest guest
Natale, Your surgeon cancelled your appt because HE thought it was unnecessary?. It is his job to answer all your questions and make you feel you are in good hands and ready to go forward with a big surgery. Is he doing that? It should not be up to him to decide an appt is NOT necessary for the patient. I'd forget this guy and look for someone willing to trust putting YOU first. Guest guest
I am from Oklahoma and had my surgery October 2008 in Plano, TX at age 45 but had been dealing with progressive scoliosis for 30 years. He should get it done while he is young and before it gets much worse. It is painful but very tolerable and the younger you are the faster you recover for sure! My Surgeon (Barton L. Sachs) was FANTASTIC but has since relocated to ton,SC and is teaching at the medical university there now as well. I would go there to use him in a second! Also, I have had no personal experience with but have followed the blog of a surgeon (Lloyd Hey) in Raleigh, NC that seems like a wonderful person & capable surgeon as well. His blog address is http://drlloydhey.blogspot.com/. There are tons of before and after pics and stories on there and a link to his practice. I would be happy to personally share photos with you and my personal story which I posted on the forum but many month back. Feel free to contact me. I have a wonderful book to recommend as well. Best advice I have - DO YOUR HOMEWORK and find the right SURGEON because there really aren't that many. You want one that SPECIALIZES in scoliosis and not just a general orthopedic surgeon. MANY people have to travel quite a ways. I couldn't find one in Oklahoma that I thought was qualified and I'm glad I didn't " settle.
