Guest guest
This was sent to the moreoxygen list and I asked if I could forward it here in answer to the post by Jim. I felt it needed to be addressed. So here is her response. I am leaving her address in case anyone wants to ask her any questions. She is not on this list, so post questions directly to her. Donna Re: [moreoxygen] breathing and blood pressure Hi Donna, Since I am not a doctor I can not give you the medical reason. I can only go by my experiences with thousands of students I have taught over the years. In my Health Center I had many nurses who were avid Life Lifters. They became devoted to Life Lift and spread the word fast after doing several of their own tests. They had access in the hospitals where they worked to equipment that measured oxygen levels as well as blood pressure. Their experience was that generally after doing 10 to 20 minutes of Life Lift their oxygen levels would skyrocket. They even did side by side testing with half the people doing traditional aerobics compared to Life Lift. Life Lift won hands down every time. As for blood pressure. Their tests showed that even people who had their blood pressure increase from extreme pain from injuries would have a lower blood pressure after doing Life Lift for about 10 minutes. I have heard from a few people by telephone who like Jim had elevated blood pressure after doing Life Lift for awhile. Since I had no way of having them tested I could not tell if it was in fact a result of Life Lift or something else. I cautioned them to see their doctors and to discontinue doing Life Lift without the complete support of their doctors. In one case the doctor suggested that they could do small spurts 5 minutes at a time keeping it as relaxed as possible. I have seen some people (particularly if they begin with Body Flex) who do the second exhale or the pah as some call it with much to much intensity. I have to watch my husband because he tends to want to be so aggressive with it. He was taking blood pressure medication for years before I met him and was able to stop as his blood pressure leveled out to a healthy level. For him as it has been for me, Life Lift has been a great gift for his health. As in everything else. There is no one thing that is perfect for everyone. We are all different in so many ways. As I have been reading the messages about diets it is so evident that this is true. For some eating fruits is a great thing. For others it can cause negative reactions. There are many of us who are allergic to things that have long been considered healthy and desirable. I will do some research and see if I can give you a more complete answer to your question. I am always searching for answers. I appreciate your question as it keeps me on top of things. I try to always be open to new knowledge, new information. Hopefully I can continue learning for the good of everyone. Take good care, Rashelle Be sure to check out all of the great specials available on my web sites. It has been my experience that many people who have had past problems with high blood pressure actually find that doing Life Lift lowers their blood pressure enough that they are able to get off medication. However, there are people like Jim who do experience a rise in blood pressure. This is why I remain constant in my believe that if high blood pressure is a concern that you should consult your doctor before doing Life Lift, Body Flex or any exercise program. This is why it is stated clearly at the beginning of my video and also on my website. I feel that anyone working in the health field should be responsible enough to offer a warning if their is a possibility for concern with certain situations, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure and anyone who has a health problem should consult their doctor before beginning ANY exercise program. Karma is not wrong in calling Life Lift the gentler program. At the request of their doctors I have taught people with Lou Gering's disease as well as some other serious illness's that left people unable to get out of a wheelchair. They felt that Life Lift offered them incredible benefits. Many who could not do any other kind of exercise, some totally bedridden have been able to do Life Lift with wonderful results. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor. . Take good care, Rashelle
Guest guest
This is from Rashelle's site at: http://www.lifelift.com/lifelift_how_to_booklet.htm " Who should not do Life Lift? If you have not been exercising regularly you should consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor. Life Lift is very detoxing and in the beginning stages of pregnancy you should do everything possible to protect your unborn child. If you have any concerns take the tape to your doctor and have him review it. I have not been told of a doctor who found Life Lift to be harmful, however you should trust your own personal doctor. He is the expert in his field and he knows your situation. Let him make the ultimate decision. If you have uncontrolled high blood pressure consult your doctor. You will see many testimonials telling us that someone lowered their blood pressure using Life Lift, however these were people who had their blood pressure under control with the help of their doctor before they began the program. Consult your doctor if you have glaucoma, again, your doctor may approve the program for you. " I just re-played the Rashelle Life Lift VHS, and her opening statement (verbatim) on the video is: " Don't do this program if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, glaucoma, or if you are pregnant. " My BP isn't uncontrolled, it is simply on the high side of normal (or so I'm told). Why does Rashelle make these statements regarding BP and glaucoma if it in fact reduces BP? I did the LL's (50 a day, and generally 50 in a set) for at least 3 weeks before discovering my BP elevation associated with it. I'm simply suggesting caution by anyone who does these exercises. I can take my BP and then go out and jog for 30 minutes, come back and wait from 2 hours and check it again, and my BP is lower at that time than before I went jogging. My doctor thought that the BP elevation from LL might come from the tensing of the abdominals at the end of each exercise, but that was just his guess. Guest guest
Hi Jim, Just wanted to say that I was not sharing Rashelles post as a rebuttal to your experience. I believe it is a serious topic and it doesn't matter if alot of people see low blood pressure. It is still is important that people know that it can, in some cases, raise BP. To me that is a very serious issue and I thought people should know that, yes, most people have lower BP, but not all and so should proceed with caution and monitor themselves if they have had any BP problems. Obviously that is the reason Rashelle posts that warning on her tapes and on her site. Because it can be an issue for a small group of people. To me, just because the groups is small does not mean it is not an issue. If I was one of them, I certainly would want to know, so I am glad you posted. Donna>> Hi Donna: I'm aware that you forwarded it as a caution to people that might be adversely affected by it. I responded because Rashelle Haines' glowing description of her experiences might tend to be a little colored. Rashelle is a super salesperson in her own way, and I think she tends to underestimate any adverse effects of that type of breathing exercise, so she puts in a caveat to make her lawyer happy. I communicated with Rashelle directly via email when I originally had questions regarding the VHS. She sent me a nice email back with some very detailed instructions. I just try to keep in mind that she is a business person first, and now has scads more products to sell than when I first got the VHS from her site over a year ago. It's kind of like supplements, you have to sort between the glow and the goo. Jim B
