Guest guest
Well, I survived my CT Mylogram yesterday. They didn't have any trouble getting into L5-S1 area. I watched the screen to see the dye and also beforehand when they were pinpointing the area to go in. Laying on the X-ray table was uncomfortable because it's so hard. The most painful part was when he put in the Lidocaine to deaden the area. I didn't feel anything for the dye injecting part. I did have pressure in my legs when I had to move to the CT room, but that's normal they said. When I was done with the CT the technician sat down next to me after I sat up and said " I'm sorry " . I told him that it doesn't hurt any worse than one of my bad days when I have the pain from my lower back down into my legs. He said " I won't take that too personal " . He walked me back to the changing room and was waiting for me outside to make sure I could make it back to the waiting room without falling, I guess. My daughter drove me home. I had to rest the rest of the day. He told me not to lay down flat because that causes the dye to move into your brain which can cause a headache. He also said not to clean the house or do anything too strenuous the rest of that day and take it easy the next few days. He said the more you do, the more the dye can spread into your brain and throughout your body that first day. It takes 24-48 hrs for the dye to get out of your system thru the kidneys. He also said to drink a lot of water to help flush it out, too. I don't know if anyone else had this happen after having it done, but about 2 hrs. afterward I was resting and it felt like the dye or something was moving into my heart or chest. I could breathe OK, but I felt alot of pressure in that area. Just in case it was an allergic reaction, I had my daughter bring me a Benadryl. I fell asleep then and woke up about 2 hrs. later and felt fine. Today I'm OK, but still have pressure in my lower back, tailbone and legs. I can't bend over very far without the pressure getting worse, and if I cough, it feels like my tailbone will blow off or something!! I have to run a few errands and go to the pain mgt doc, but then I plan on coming home and resting. Carol V (CA)
