Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome, Cam. I'll try to get my personal history post up today. Great ideas about using the chat function. Having scheduled chats posted on the calender would remind people about them, as well. Is there any way that the calender could be visible when logging onto the website? I don't know about anyone else, but I never think to link to the calender, but having it right there, with dates of peoples surgeries, appointments, and other goings on on the board would be a great. If not, how about a daily post or something along those lines? I did this for my ex-husband's business web-site and would be happy to keep track of things here if you'd like. Just tossing out a couple of thoughts. Guest guest
I added a reminder for the chat to the homepage. I don't see a way to make the calendar more prominent. It is going to be fun to see how it works out here. In chat rooms I have used at work, you are able to copy and paste the text from the chat into a word document. I suspect this will work and I will try. I just hope I don't forget to log on. Dianne, I was meaning to write you because Cam was keeping me informed of your health status. It sounds as if we are experiencing similar problems. I am glad that we will be able to catch up with each other here. > > Okay, I admit that I haven't got much of a life these > > days...Saturday night and hubby and I are home...so I invited > > > to play with the Chat feature avaiable at the web site and it is > > VERY easy. Guest guest
Dianne, Good idea, I stuck the chat on the calender. I think Ann determined that it is not possible to get it to come up on the start page. As nice as this free board is from ..it does have it's limitations! In further exploring this we will conduct a test of the calender feature...which is now set either to remind all the members ...or just me...I can't tell ( or Ann can you see if you can determine?). I know it is always possible to send out a special message to everyone..so we can always do that to remind. I believe any member can edit the calender to put items on it ..I am just not sure if you can also set up to send out reminders. If you want to take this job on it would be great...I think folks would like to see surgical dates or consults up as well as anything else that is noteworthy.... Talk to you soon, Cam > Thanks for the welcome, Cam. I'll try to get my personal history > post up today. > > Great ideas about using the chat function. Guest guest
If I remember right, I tried the copy and paste. chat takes this as an attempt to click on a name and then asks if you want to add the ID to your " friends " list. Cam or Ann, perhaps we can run a quick experiment again? > In chat rooms I have used at work, you are able to copy and paste the > text from the chat into a word document. Guest guest
From the calendar help: Can members be notified about a new calendar event? If you set up a calendar to include an email reminder, then all members of your group will receive notification in advance of the event. You can set up two reminders, and these can be triggered anywhere from two weeks before the event to 15 minutes before the event. > Dianne, > > Good idea, I stuck the chat on the calender. Guest guest
Okay, I think that is how I have the reminders set....I am not sure I am EDST though...good thing we are considering this a dry run! Guest guest
You are correct. I just googled this...apparently the only way to " save " the chat is by periodically grabbing screen captures (control/printscreen) and pasting them into word. Pretty cumbersome. Also- users (sorry I go into work mode) will most likely be prompted to install the active x technologies by clicking on the bar that appears at the top. Do you think we can explain how to do that?
