Guest guest
Vonnie, Hopkins did not find the broken rod on me for 9 months. When they finally x-rayed from the side - they found it but by that time there was a lump as well. You are so right - we know when something is not right. I went to Hopkins every month and they had me convinced this was in my head. I had the big Harrington removed and a small Harrington compression rod put in. The surgery was much easier and I went to work at Wolf Trap as an usher about 3 weeks later. Looking back on it - that was stupid because of the standing and the hot brace. But that was youth! This surgery will not be like the massive revision but that probably doesn't make it seem any easier. It's really hard to take so be sure you are being good to yourself right now! Buy some flowers to pick up your mood! We're all hoping for a good appt. for you on Monday. (VA)

Guest guest
Lordy Vonnie, Two rods broken? Were they new rods or part of your old fusion work? I looked to see if you had xrays in the files and didn't see one so I couldn't remember what your surgery was. Do you know which ones broke? Did DrRand say anything about the condition of the new fusion...or the old for that matter? I am glad you were able to get back to work if that was your wish. Whatever you do...take lots of breaks and rest when you need to!! Be sure to let us know how you are feeling in a few days. Did you get to see Sharon? Guest guest
Vonnie, I bet you are relieved that you aren't looking at immediate surgery and can go back to work as planned. You had described that you were listing to the side again. I am curious if Rand had anything to say about that or why he thought the rods broke...but I'll be patient and wait to you are up to posting. I have mentioned this here before but I thought I would mention it again to you and Cristl. I too sit at a computer most of the day and I have found that the investment in a good cushion has helped me tremendously. I notice I miss it on the weekend and have even thought about bringing it back and forth. The one I have cost about $65 from Relax the Back which is pricey but my employer reimbursed me. I have the type that I sit on and it has a wedge cut out. Ann
Guest guest
Franca,I'm not in pain anymore but I was for about a week and a half cause he said that I shifted and the pain would go away and it did.Yes I did hear it and it sounded really loud to me but I only heard the one break and that was enough. It's not far from me the hospital so it won't be that bad.I just hope that they don't move at all anymore cause I feel alot better in work and it feels good to be in work and not have that awful pain I had for 4 years. So we'll see what happens I go back the 5th of October..Vonnie -- - In , " crooked_dancer " <hadouni30@...> wrote: > > Vonnie > Glad to hear you don't need to have them fixed, but are you in pain? > Did you feel them break? Guest guest
Hi Ann,Yes I am relieved at that.He said they do that at times and he explained about the pressure it takes and that they bend them to try to fit us right and so on and so forth but it was nothing I did. I haven't leaned as much as I thought cause I was in pain when it first happened and I think that is why I thought I was leaning more cause I couldn't straighten myself up good at that time.I have that cushion with the cutout and that one was uncomfortable for me.. They bought me a good chair in work and they are buying me a reacher for work cause I keep dropping things and can't get them so they said they will pay for it so I said no problem..Better than me paying for another one as I have 2 of them at home.So what other one is there for the $65.00?Is that the one with the cut out? I got mine at QVC the home shopping channel and it was only $20.00 about.Vonnie - -- In , " ae_mcd2003 " <ae_mcd2003@...> wrote: > > Vonnie, > I bet you are relieved that you aren't looking at immediate surgery and > can go back to work as planned. Guest guest
Vonnie, so happy to hear that the pain has subsided and that you aren't listing. I find when I tire, I will start to lean. I've been told it is because muscles remember. Anyway, I know what you mean. It must have been the wierdest sensation to hear it snap. Glad you have a good chair. Isn't it odd how many items you can drop in a single day? Guest guest
Sorry Cristl, just noticed this post. I do have both. the cushion behind me helps me to remember to sit back instead of leaning forward which was my habit for so many years.
