Guest guest
These were good posts, and I cannot overstate the importance of maintaining electrolytes, especially for those of us who do colon cleansings through enemas on a regular basis because of a 'slow' colon or other health problem. As well, for 'cleansings' taken orally which induce bowel evacuation. I prefer the liquid versions of electrolytes, esp magnesium and potassium. One relatively 'low cost' mineral/vitamin version is Emergen-C if you can't find the expensive concentrated stuff. JP Message: 14 Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2001 10:06:33 -0000 From: michael758@... Subject: Re: Constipation, this finally works for me Suzan, Electrolytes are the important minerals that exists in large quantities in our bodies and control the balance of salts in and out of our cells. The other minerals are found in smaller quantities and the trace minerals in really small quantities. All of them are very important for good health as they are the basis for most biochemical reactions. In my opinion you should concentrate in finding a way to get more of them in yourself. For me heavy supplementation worked ( with Solgar chelated multimineral, liquid magnesium supplement + other multiminerals I had). The initial dose was about 5 times the recommneded for normal supplementation but after 10 days I reduced it significantly. Now, after 5 weeks it's about 1/3 of the initial dose and the positive results have been very significant and still go on. Basically your body cannot detox with a mineral deficiency because it stays in a defensive mode (it is afraid of not losing more minerals). In what concerns the most absorbable minerals, from what I have read, liquid and plant based ones are the best, aminoacid chelated come next and then the rest. In cases of severe defficiency most minerals can be and have been in the past, administered intravenously. Nowadays doctors might have forgotten their usage and they are almost considered a thing of the past when there were no " good drugs " around (according to mainstream doctors I have spoken to). I also suspect that a blood exam does not show the deficiencies well because the body uses all its stores to maintain the blood as a first priority, depleting the cells. I have read that even the calcium from bones is used this way.
