Guest guest
As some of you may already know I early June I had an attack of diverticulitis which was treated with the usual onslaught of antibiotics. It did work but it left me constipated...BIG TIME! I have researched and learned more than I ever wanted to know about POOP! At first I used Oxy Powder. It worked with the usual " brown Niagra Falls " every morning. Don't get me wrong. ANYTHING that " dumps the crud " was welcome but I wanted a couple of DAILY & FORMED BM's per day. Here's what I've come up with so far: 2 oz of s Brand aloe vera juice 2X per day. Aloe vera juice is an anti inflammatory that benefits your entire GI tract but in my particular case my diverticulas. I use s for 2 reasons. They killed the crummy taste of aloe vera juice. It tastes like WATER! It does NOT need refrigeration after opening. 2 billion CFU's of acidophiles pro-biotic 1X per day. (CFU: Colony Forming Unit) 250 mg of Milk Thistle 3X per day. Milk Thistle is a liver cleansing agent that improves liver bile flow. Bile flows to the colon and improves peristalsis. I have been using Oxy Powder but NOT according to the company's direction: 1. Eat breakfast at 6 AM. 2. Wait 3 hours for stomach to empty and take 2 Oxy Powder. 3. Lunch at 1 PM. 4. Wait 3 hours for stomach to empty and take 2 Oxy Powder. 5. Eat at 7 PM and take 2 Oxy Powder at bedtime. My purpose for the Oxy Powders is NOT a colon cleanse! It is sort of a stool softener so that fece can get around and through any obstruction or swelling. Has it been working as I intended? I'm happy to say YES! Solid but soft, 3X per day. My next intended modification will be to reduce the Oxy Powder to only one, 3 (or 2) times per day. I'm passing narrow stool. This is a sure sign of diverticulosis / diverticulitis involvement. I'm having a colonoscopy on the 24th to see exactly what is the condition of my diverticulae. Tom
