oh my goodness, so soon, if you need any emotional boosting or

someone to talk to before, during or after, let me know. I am

Hi Val,

Iam good.... I had to work really hard today to get myself in a good

place... I can't go in for surgery and be angry with my doc. So I am

centered once again...

I had a great " send off " from all my friends at work today.... so that

helped my frame of mind. I work with lots of caring people.. so I have

plenty of support there... along with all of you...

Cam... I asked Hillary today if I had to stay for the full 3 weeks and

she seemed to think yes.... but I am guessing I won't really know until

he sees how I progress....

I think the way I would look at it, I had the short interval and they

even had me as a " guest " for 14 days...so you may get to go home after

all. Waiting a week or two...either way, is hard. But Vonnie did it

and so will you.

Sounds like you had a nice send-off at work, what are you going to do

with next week off? Cam

Cam.... actually... Monday is a holiday and I am going to work Tuesday

and Wednesday and take Thursday as a PTO (paid time off) day.. lately I

have only been there in body only as my mind has been having a

difficult time focusing with all these date changes (afternoon phone

calls from Hillary)....everyone is sensitive to the fact that I am an

emotional wreck on the inside and keeping a smile on the outside for

all to see....

Question for all.... did everyones spouse hang out at the hospital all

day while surgery is taking place... I kind of feel bad for my husband

to have to pace all day... any suggestions....

---No, my sister, who was the one who brought me, Barbara, she left

and called the nurse liason during the day to find out how I was

doing and she returned to the hospital later when I got into the

recovery room. Pa

Pete chose not to hang out at the hospital. It is a very long day.

NEBH has a very specific nurse coordinator position (or at least

they did 16 months ago) and they are back and forth between the OR

and the patient family giving updates. They are willing to do that

by cell/landline phone too. When they come in the morning of surgery

they will set that up with you guys. DrRand also was glad to call

Pete directly and took his number that morning. He did call as soon

as each surgery was over. In fact, Pete laughed that after the first

surgery he answered his phone and got " Hi this is .. " and Pete

didn't know who the heck he was!

I think Pete had plenty enough time after those calls to make his

way back to the hospital and be up in my room just after they got me

settled in ICU. He was staying in a downtown hotel...so your husband

might have a slightly longer drive back....but time is so collapsed

in that period right after surgery you may not even notice...

I am sure DrRand could at least give an extimate of the soonest you

would be out of recovery so your husband could go off for awhile in

the morning, if that is your wish.

Good luck. Cam

---Cam and ,

Yes, he/she was called a nurse liason. THey still had that person 4

months ago when I was there. THey give you their direct line so that

your family can call and get updates during the surgery if they wish.

This was given to us the morning of the surgery. My sister called

several times throughout the day to see how I was doing. After my

first surgery my husband and sister were both allowed in the recovery

room, invited in by Dr.Rand. After the second surgery my sister was

allowed in the recovery room(my husband was unable to come up for the

second surgery). I don't remember alot about them being there other

than just seeing them...,PA

My parents got to see me in the recovery room in 1971. I sure hope my hubby gets to see me. Sis and MIL too, if possible.

Cam, that is so funny. I'll warn Amit. He'd get really confused because my

sister's hubby is a also.
