Guest guest
---Dear Vonnie, Missed you VERY much last night!! It was so very interesting to put faces with the names!!! We had a wondersul time. Food was good. Dr.Rand and Priscilla ended up joining us for dinner. It was really interesting to hear everyones stories and just chew and chat for a few hours, I was the first one to leave as I was getting a bit tired,,the rest were ready to party on!!! I also was lucky enough to get a second chance to see Cam in Rand's office this morning. Dr.Rand and Priscilla both stated to me that they enjoyed the dinner and appreciated hearing folks concerns and stories....I, for one, was glad they felt comfortable enough to hang out with us!! I would loe to do it again!! Had an xray and saw doctoe, he said all looked good and I can drive and return to work when I fell ready...half days if I can do it and then April12 th full days...all looked good on the xray and I will see him in July for a follow up....<PA In , " Vonnie " <vonniec20032000@...> wrote: > > So ladies how was the dinner last night? Guest guest
Sorry for not reporting sooner, Vonnie. It was, in a word, AWESOME. We were literally treated like VIPs. The food was delicious, we were welcomed by the president's secretary with the apology that he couldn't make it, and there was a red rose for each of us to take home. Dr. Rand and Priscilla showed up, and when urged to do so they stayed and ate with us. Cam even got up the nerve to ask him if he has back issues of his own. (The answer -- yes, but just your garden variety back pain, and when he sits or stands up real straight it doesn't hurt.) He even talked about operating table ergonomics. I took some pictures, and if nobody objects I'll post them on the site when I get the time (not the out-takes, of course!) Sharon [ ] DINNER AT NEBH > So ladies how was the dinner last night? Guest guest
It really was quite nice. It was great to catch up with old friends and to make new. I absolutley can't get over how well PA is doing!! If I bumped into her on the street I would never guess she had scoliosis and had just had surgery. Ken, so very sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. I sincerely hope that her recovery is swift and complete. in CA, you are in my thoughts ... As are all of you. We're a good group! Last night reminded me of how much good this site does.

Guest guest
Hi to all, Just catching up now that I am home..I too wanted to say how much I enjoyed our get together on Wednesday. I remarked to Carolyn later Wednesday night that I think, as a group, I couldn't have put together a more interesting and solid group of women if I had tried. I believe that the one common bond we all share is that as teenagers we faced some serious surgery/disability/deformity and then found the inner resources to deal with some pretty horrific treatments. Fortunatly the outcome was some very strong, confident and emotionally resilient adults that know who they are...pretty amazing. I think it will be nice to work toward a gathering where we can all benefit from meeting one another. It sounds like Lost Wages is high on the list. How about we pick one other city as a back up or comparision city?...Kam had proposed St Louis...it is centrally located and a number of you are, or will have, other reasons to travel there anyway. Ann says there is an art museum worth visiting... Is there anyone that would like to spend the time to do the basic organizing for such an event...mostly getting together RFP's for a couple of hotels? We must have a couple of closet party planners here... I like late Sept or Early October too... Cam
Guest guest
Joanne, Senior moment....right!! You are still a " babe " no matter what the calender says...you look 40 and seem very spunky for one so soon out of revision! I am glad we had the opportunity to connect and hope that you continue to check in here with us often. It is true that sharing experiences amongst ourselves is powerful and healing in mnay ways. Take Care and thanks for the lift, Cam
Guest guest
--- Friends, I look forward to the next get together...I do believe there has to be one or two folks heading it up or it will never get off the ground. I would suggest that one or two of you out that way, team up and plan it and those who wish to go will, those who don't or can't for some reason will not. ,PA In , " cammaltby " <cammaltby@...> wrote: > > Hi to all, > > Just catching up now that I am home..I too wanted to say how much I > enjoyed our get together on Wednesday. Guest guest
-Yes, check up was good. He ordered an xray and I got to keep it, they have all that on computer now.....I will take a photo and post them..they look similiar to the rest of the folks.I shared them with my children and they all said, " well Mom , we see why it hurt so much! " .They really had no clue!! Rand gave me permission to drive and return to work. I drove today just a short distance, it is weird not having the ability to turn to look both ways like before..I had to move my entire body....he also told me to put a trash can liner on the seat for slidability...or i guess I could have worn my silk PJ's.....I believe he was very pleased with my progress. I am pleased too!! I was succesfully able to fly to and from Providence by myself...I did take a wheel chair ride to and from the gate, did not want to stress myself out!!I return in July or August, he said ,for another follow up......, PA -- In , vonnie callahan <vonniec20032000@...> wrote: > > Ladies glad to hear you all had a fun night out and had a chance to put all the names to the faces too..That was nice of them to offer the room and pay for everything and get roses too.NICE !!! Guest guest
-- Vonnie, yes, after the first surgery I had relief from the sciatic pain etc..however then you have the post surgery pain to deal with. But that is easier to deal with because you know it will get better everyday! I am 8 weeks post op second stage this coming Tuesday. I am going to go back to work April 1st, he told me I could go back now if I wanted half days to ease into it, I am a special education teacher. I will start half days 4/1 and full days 4/12. I am so happy with my outcome, I still have pain, surgery related but nothing I can't deal with..better than that stuff before surgery!!!It won't be long for you now!! , PA - In , vonnie callahan <vonniec20032000@...> wrote: > > WOW that was good news from Dr.Rand..Going back to work and all,I bet you can't wait.
