,

I am so sorry you are having these problems. It must be really hard

having to cope with children as well. I believe all your problems are

due to hypo. The dosage can be increase to 200mg I believe.

I was very interested in your letter because I also live in England

and depend on the NHS. You are lucky to see a specialist because my

doctor told me that hypo cases are never referred because the surgery

can deal with it. Only hyper cases get a referral. I don't think

enough attention is given to this complaint by GPs. They do a blood

test and then just give out the pills. It is just too simplistic!

You say that you feel your dosage is not strong enough. I am in a

reverse situation. Before diagnosis, I had no symptoms, perhaps

feeling cold(people complain about how hot my house is) and an itchy

back which different show gels did not resolve. My optician told me

to get a blood test. My TSH was 32. It was also checked for T4 which

was low.

To cut a long story short, I was given 50mg Thyroxine and after

about 6 weeks it almost killed me. I felt completely exhausted, spent

all day in bed, had a thudding heart beat, and total mental

confusion. I have thrown the drugs away and have returned to

normal. My GP said that some people are hypersensitive to Thyroxine

and said I should try 25 mg. I am scared to do even this. Because my

blood pressure is so high she said I did not have adrenal depletion.

It seems I am in a catch 22 situation. It is dangerous not to treat

the hypo. but the drugs make me ill.

YES my nose was also completely blocked. It has never been brilliant

but was terrible on the Thyroxine. Decongestants can make your

sinuses worse with long term use.

My GP said that Armour is not available on prescription. You can

easily buy it on the internet.

Doctor is wrong wrong wrong. She does not know the difference between

's and adrenal insufficiency. She needs to read Durrant Peatfield

MD!

yep!!! and your thyroid can give you the high blood pressure--kind of

like over-riding the adrenal symptoms---have to look at all the

symptoms, never say I don't have this one so I must not be it---M

does not have allegies and she has adrenal problems---so you have to

look at the entire picture!!!!! (Gracia told me this about M)

, I'm sorry to hear that you don't get on with thryoxine.

Thanks for replying to my posting and for your support. It's nice to

be among friends and people who understand what it's like. I wish you

all the best for the future.
