Guest guest
I am planning to try the castor oil pack for my liver this weekend. Does anyone know how many times you can do these one hour sessions? Would once a week for a month be too much? __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dr. McGarey who has written " The Oil That Heals " and uses the packs in his practice, prescribes a variety of times and sessions based on the Edgar Cayce readings. A rather 'normal' session is for one hour each day, 5 days in a row then skipping a couple of days and going with another five days following this routine for a couple of weeks. Some have extended it out much farther (in fact it has at times been prescribed longer by McGarey) and in one case I have seen a testimonial of a woman who cured her hypertension with this method going on for 6 months with the 5 days on, 2 days off routine. At times there are instructions for 2 and 3 hour sessions for a shorter span of time. I've done the one hour to one and a half hour sessions, 5 days on and two days off then 5 days on again, but have quit at that point because of the 'inconvenience' of preparation and clean up and quite frankly while a couple of days of one hour sessions may be relaxing, I find that beyond that it gets tedious. There is nothing that I can find that the packs cause any kind of adverse reactions, so my suggestion is to allow your own experience be your guide. Guest guest
It would be nigh impossible to clean the castor oil off the flannel and I don't know what it would do to a washing machine but I wouldn't try it. It's tough enough getting it off of your skin though baking soda helps a great deal. I've seen instructions to keep using the flannel over again but some suggest no more than 30 times. I also add a little oil most of the time and it seems to work better than when I don't. I don't see how the saturation level of the flannel has anything to do with it but I'm convinced that it does. I keep mine in a zip lock bag in the fridge to help protect it and, I know, it's cold when it first comes out. Some instructions say to heat it first, but I don't because it takes less than a minute to put it on and get a pre-heated pad on it. Jay <<Thanks. Did you clean the castor oil off the flannel between each use? The instructions seem to be saying to just store the cloth with the old oil on it and use it again.>>
Guest guest
Yes, you can use the same cloth over and over - unwashed - until it becomes stained and " yucky " with impurities. I just fold mine up after use and put it in a plastic bag in the fridge. Although I've read instructions somewhere on how to " clean " the wool flannel, I don't think I'd even try. All that oil in wool? Puh-lease! (I sent away for the wool flannel I am now using and it was rather expensive. When it gets too soiled, I plan to just cut up an old wool blanket that I have on hand and use that). Re: castor oil pack for liver Thanks.
