Guest guest
I think seeds are only a problem if you have diverticulitus, which is where your intestines have pockets that balloon out instead of remaining tube shaped. Then, those seeds can tend to get caught in these pockets and cause irritation. That is my laywoman's understanding. But for the average person, seeds are not an issue. Well, actually all seeds and nuts have anti enzyme factors in them that keep them from rotting over the winter so that they can sprout in the spring. Those enzyme factors are what makes seeds and nuts hard to digest for some people. If you have poor digestion, then you might want to avoid them or supplement with extra digestive enzymes. Again, I am not a doctor, that is just what I have read. Donna -----Original Message----- A few weeks back, someone posted that sunflower seeds were especially bad for you, and that they " collected " in the bends in the colon. I posted a reply, which was really a question: " " Why sunflower seeds more so than anything else? " " " But I never saw my post and certainly never saw any answers. ( is still not up to par, I think) Anyway, some comments please, about sunflower seeds? Thanks. A

If we soak the seeds and nuts over night, they become a living power house loaded in many more vits and minerals just from the soaking and it does away with the element that keeps them from rotting. Also the fat in them becomes essentail fatty acids, which every living creature desparately needs and the enzymes are also greatly multiplied. Now instead having the inhibitors to keep them a " seed " , they are now a living plant....they have started to grow. Soak those seeds and nuts and eat away!! Pumpkin seeds collect in the bends and can clog you up terribly too. That's why you have to be very careful when using them against worms to chew them VERY carefully and to monitor the amount you ingest. I have had some very bad experiences being careless with pumpkin seeds. All nuts and seeds are the hardest foods to digest if they are not thoroughly chewed. Robin G.
