Guest guest
, I cannot believe this...I have my follow up appointment with Dr. Bendo on the 13th at 1:00! What time is your appointment? I'm so glad you are going to meet with Dr. Bendo. If my recovery so far is any indication of what I have to look forward to in the future, I absolutely made the right choice in surgeons! If I miss you that day, please tell him that you know me, okay? Good luck, I hope we can meet on the 13th if the tiiming is right, and I'll be so anxious to hear how it goes with him! All the best, Edie > > > > I just made an appointment for Dr. Bendo (in-plan and Edie likes > him!) > > for June 13. Guest guest
Edie, Woo Hoo! I have a 1:30 appointment. Maybe we can get together afterwards? This could make me feel a bit better about missing the NC gathering. > > , > > I cannot believe this...I have my follow up appointment with Dr. Bendo on the 13th at 1:00! > What time is your appointment? > > I'm so glad you are going to meet with Dr. Bendo. Guest guest
Hi , I will look for you in the office. We can go grab a bite at a diner nearby afterwards or some such thing. Unless you and Teri have any food allergies or preferences, let me know. There is nothing on that block, but some places a few blocks away, can you manage that walk physically? Let me know. Anyway, it's a small office, so believe me, I'll find you-- Really looking forward to meeting you! Guest guest
Let's see...you'll wear a red rose on your *left* lapel and I'll...no wait, I'm confusing my MI6 procedures. Oops, I wasn't supposed to mention that either. (003.14159 etc.) > > Hi , > > I will look for you in the office. We can go grab a bite at a diner nearby afterwards or some > such thing. Guest guest
Hey there! I saw Dr. Bendo today. I was impressed with his staff and his office manner. I have a very good feeling about him. He looked at the xray I brought and saw a halo around one of the screws. This might indicate that the screw is loose or that the fusion at a particular level failed. I had a couple of fresh xrays taken which did *not* show any problems. We're going to have a CT scan and then another office visit. I really want to get this thing diagnosed a bit more. Yesterday was my first " 4 Vicodin " day and I don't like that my pain meds are increasing. I will probably have to see my pain management doc soon. Has anyone had that radio wave thingy that sort of burns out the nerves to keep pain from happening? (Yeah, I know I'm beeing really accurate with the name...) If so, I'd like your opinion. Even more important than seeing Dr. Bendo was that I met another of our group for the very first time. It was a pleasure to meet Edie. She looks wonderful and was a joy to talk with. Because my appointment took longer than we thought, a cafe trip will have to wait until my return appointment. In that regard, I can't wait. (Talking with Edie, not the eating :-) > > > > Hi , > > > > I will look for you in the office. We can go grab a bite at a diner > nearby afterwards or some > > such thing. Guest guest
, I hope the doctor can chase this rabbit all the way to the end of the trail! My son has talked about having that nerve burning thing! He doesn't have scoliosis, but does have two destroyed disc and has had a laminectomy. I'm not sure ANY of that is spelled right. Anyway, the nerve thing is next on his to do list. He had surgery, no fusion, 9 or more injections, and he too is running out of things to do. After seeing my struggles I think he would do anything to avoid fusion. Glad you got to see Edie. So does she really look like J-lo? Guest guest
Yep, but you'll never get me to admit that I was checking that out :-) ===== Evil Dr. Xyzzy: " Agent 003.14159, you've thwarted my every move to become supreme ruler of the world. But I've finally captured you. " Me: " You have me for now, but I won't talk. " Evil Dr. Xyzzy: " But I must know whether the beautiful American agent, also known as 'Edie Scratch', resembles J-Lo, at least in one important area. " Me: " You'll never get me to talk " Evil Dr. Xyzzy: " Perhaps I'll move closer to you with the white persian kitty I'm always holding. Remember your allergies, 003.14159. " Me: " (Gasp!) No, not that. I'll (sneeze) never (tears) talk (sinus pain). ===== Maybe its good that I'm a programmer. The above was daydreamed even before the vicodin kicked in :-) > > , > > I hope the doctor can chase this rabbit all the way to the end of the > trail! Guest guest
Hi, E-Lo checking in here. , it was great to meet you! Sorry I had to scoot out by 4, but it's a good thing I left when I did, because traffic was already a nightmare at that point, (as you may have encountered yourself leaving the city). Next time, lunch! I'm glad you got a good feeling about Dr. Bendo and his staff at the spine center, and will be very interested to hear how it goes from here. Something must be up, we don't experience pain for no reason. OK, reality check. E-Lo does not have the va-va-va-voom of the lovely J-Lo, but she does have lordosis again. As a matter of fact, my husband has taken to calling me " Lordy' as a nickname, which cracks me up, since he is an atheist. LOL! Will fill you all in on my visit with Bendo in my next post. Cheers M'Dears, Edie (E-Lo) > > > > , > > > > I hope the doctor can chase this rabbit all the way to the end of the > > trail! My son has talked about having that nerve burning thing! Guest guest
Would this device be the Medtronics NeuroStimulator thingie? I know there are several devices out there that deal with pain in different ways. I had a trial implant of the one I mentioned above. I'll be glad to share my experience with that if that if anyone is going to try that particular one and has any questions. I will say this anyway: right before the Dr. started with the insertions of the leads he asked "you do have more leg pain than back pain don't you". I said "no, more back pain". I got the feeling right then that I wasn't a good candidate since 90% of my pain and problems was in my back - the pain going down my leg was intermittened. Bottom line experience I learned from that procedure - make sure the Doctor understands where your pain is. Guest guest
I really don't know enough about it to even name it. My previous spine doc didn't have any desire to troubleshoot my back and my current pain doc has only done the injections so we haven't discussed much beyond that yet. I do believe we'd discuss the thingy soon, though. I'm quite willing to give Dr. Bendo all the time he wants for diagnosing before I go back to the pain doc. > > Would this device be the Medtronics NeuroStimulator thingie? Guest guest
, I had the "burn thingy" done about a year before my surgery. It's called "radiofrequency" or the docs refer to it as "RF". The usual practice is to first do a test called "facet injection" which uses numbing medicine to numb the nerve endings to see if you get pain relief. (we do this in the pain clinic where I work). I had it in the left thoracic area & it really helped until my unfused lumbar area started worsening. Guest guest
Thanks for the info, Joyce. My greatest concern is that by burning out the nerves, I won't be able to tell if other problems affect that area. This is kind of important since pain is natures way of telling you something's wrong. How did you overcome that issue? > > , > I had the " burn thingy " done about a year before my surgery. Guest guest
, They only burn 2 to 4 nerve endings & only ones that sense pain in very specific areas. Also the nerves can regenerate. Most people get 6months to 1 year of relief. Sensing pain elsewhere was not a problem. Actually it made it easier to realize that I was having more problems in the lumbar area. It's a good idea to write your questions down & address them with your doctor or his staff. Joyce T, RN Atlanta
