Several years after my surgery, I saw a physical therapist. When I told her about having huge numb areas on my torso, she recommended the following: Every day, brush, rub, or scrape the numb areas with items of different texture (a brush, a feather, etc.). While you’re doing that, think about what the item should feel like. The concept is that thinking about the textures creates new nerve pathways.
