Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, What a feeling to have that relief! Good for you! You know that deep awful ache that will not go away no matter how hard you press your fist against it? Well, it's gone! I still can't believe it. The day of the injection, I had an ache down my thigh and my calf was numb on the right side. That stuff was gone the next morning. So, I have been able to do more. I overdid it this weekend and by the end of the day Sunday, my burning pain was worse than ever, but the buttock ache stayed away. I need to reorganize my life in a way, to minimize the burning pain, but what fun to be without that ache. I don't know how long this will last. I see the doc again in 10 days and we'll talk then. I'll let you know what he says. Bonnie scoliosis veterans * flatback sufferers * revision candidates

Guest guest
Bonnie, You may never realize how happy I am to read this post! I've still got a few " issues " that feel like they could be tight muscles (and after attempting to stretch in the water, I'm even more aware of them) and I get anxious about my SI more often than I should. I am so relieved for you. You are a pioneer in this revision thing and I'm watching you like a hawk! Thanks for keeping us up to date and congrats! kam
Guest guest
---Kam, Does your doctor have you wear the bone growth stimulator thing? Do you wear one of those braces with the velcro? I was wondering how different doctors do it. I hate wearing the bone growth stimulator but I do it because Dr.Rand said to do so..it is suppose to help with the fusion. I just can't imagine being married to this thing for for nine months, 4 hours a day ...I guess a small price to pay for all the surgery etc. I also have the sore muscle thing going on..especially my butt muscles!!! I also have had some soreness in my calf muscles...I guess all par for the recovery course!! .PA In , " advokam " <advokam@...> wrote: > > Bonnie, > > You may never realize how happy I am to read this post! Guest guest
Hi Kam, , , Thanks for your kind responses. It's weird getting used to living without a terrible pain after having it for so long. I have a tendency to overdue when I don't hurt, so I have been exhausted this week. And as I am doing too much, I'm getting new aches and pains and a few really bad "electrical bolts", if you know what I mean.. So I have to readjust. A nice dilemma! Truthfully, I'm feeling really good about myself because I refused to give up until I found somebody who would address that pain instead of just telling me it was an expected result of surgery and doing nothing about it because they really didn't know what it was. I know I will never be entirely pain free, but I'll be darned if I won't be as pain free as possible. When I see this new pain doc again on the 24th, I am going to give him a big hug and maybe a batch of homemade brownies. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Just getting back and catching up....glad to hear you had good results with the injection. Where on the pirimormis did they do the injection, if you know? I hope the results last! Cam
Guest guest
HI Cam, Re: where on the piriformis I got the injection: The doc injected right near the spine, near S-1. (I don't know why but it's still black and blue there so I can see exactly where it was.) He said the "stuff" would go from there all the way to the hip joint where the piriformis ends. I actually had shooting pain along that line during the injection. He showed me the fluoroscopic (is that a word?) picture which showed the stuff having gone halfway to the hip joint and he said it would travel further. I don't understand exactly how, and I had never heard of this before! I looked this up on the web after I got home and found that the piriforis, when inflamed or in spasm, can press on the sacroiliac nerve, but it's a piriforis problem, not a sacroiliac problem. The day and night of my , and the right side of my leg below the knee was numb. I can't wait to talk to the doc about this on the 24th and get his take on it. Since that day, my leg is back to normal and I still sometimes get burning pain in the hip joint (when I do too much), but the deep, profound, awful ache in the buttock is gone. Guest guest
Bonnie, After I posted, I crashed so if it is a repeat sorry. I think I know how you feel. The first few times I had cortisone I was pain free. It feels weird when you don't have to use your mind to constantly process pain. I remember feeling free to think. Anyway, good luck with it.
