Thanks for the advice...I have gotten myself back under control for

now and will try to remember the suggestions for my next " weak

moment. " And I got my baby announcements completed and they will be

mailed in the morning...and my daughter is only 9 weeks old! (Isn't

it amazing how much we relax with the second child...I had my oldest

daughter's announcements in the mail by the time she was 2 weeks old!)

Well, I'm back on track, with 70 LL breaths with positions and

another 10 while driving and working on the computer. I also chased

kids at Vacation Bible School for 2 hours, so I feel

sufficiently " exercised. " I plan to sleep like a...well, better than

a baby tonight!

Hi Libby,

Thanks for the info. about combining a protein with a sugar to help

eliminate sugar cravings. I'll have to try that.

Hi folks,

We're in our third week of treating my son's yeast condition, using

Nystatin and Probiotics. At the same time, he has a host of food

allergies, including gluten and casein, eggs, all dairy.

Finding foods appropriate to both of these considerations hasn't been

easy, as you could imagine. But I think it would be easier if I had a

rule of thumb regarding sugar. Right now, he only gets a few grams a

day--we mix his probiotic and calcium supplement with 2 or 3 ozs. of

diluted pear juice twice a day. There a couple of grams of sugar in

the GF rice chex he eats in the morning. Not much else.

His DAN doc has told us no sugar, except for 2 small servings of

fruit (we count the pear juice as that). We therefore have eliminated

a bunch of foods--smoothies, coconut milk, almond milk, rice protein,

among others--that would be beneficial and add variety to his diet,

but that have sugar.

Am I being to strict on the sugar?

If the 1 cup per 4 quarts ratio has been working for you, adjusting the

volume of the mixture while maintaining the ratio is just fine. I usually

make about 4 quarts at a time (usually with about a cup of sugar, perhaps a

little more) and then just split between my vessels based on how much fits.

There's nothing to fix, you'll be just fine.

Actually, for the first batch I used 1 cup sugar for 3 quarts tea, not 4

quarts. This time it would end up being 3/4 cup for 3 quarts and I wasn't

sure that was enough sugar.

My first batch tasted fine, tho I have put it in plastic bottles for a

couple of days before I put it in the glass bottles with ginger and

refrigerate, so I don't consider it done yet. I was pretty offended by the

smell, but had a bottle of plain GT Dave's and opened that and noticed that

it smelled the same only mine was a bit stronger--probably cuz GT Dave's was

cold. Interesting I had never noticed the smell before. YUK!! I think the

taste was dead-on.... just slightly vinegar without the sweet. I'm pretty

happy with it. It was a starter kit from the HappyHerbalist, so the tea

mixture came with it....my next batches are the 3 teas. green, 2 teas. black

and 1 teas. jasmine, a blend recommended by Len, I think. I only ended up

with 2 quarts to bottle from my first batch, the rest was used for starter

for 2 more batches.....and I'm experiementing with part of a tea batch and

some plain GT Dave's in a jar to see if I get a baby from that. .....just

for fun.
