Guest guest
What's up with me? Ughhh! I was orginally scheduled for a staged revision this week and July 3, I rescheduled it to October. My thinking was, the fall would be better for my family, older kids would be @ college leaving only my youngest @ home. I thought my husband would be a bigger cheerleader. I'm afraid he won't be much help @ all. I've attempted to " buy " time w/bilateral foraminal nerve blocks, 1st one provided alot of pain releif immediately! but only lasted 8 days)I had 2nd block week ago, I think I'd may gotten relief (just took longer)Today I attended a funeral (2 hours long sitting) I've never been able to sit that long so maybe???? UCSF- Good Postive experiences, the blocks- done by Dr. S. Deviren (married to Dr. Deviren - Hu' s assoc, they are Turkish) I love Dr. Deviren,, she claims hsving done over 10,000(not kidding) blocks/epidurals, Does them in OR, VERY professional, alot of fuss w/ pre-op team, OR team, Nurse anesthetist, IVs, monitors, recovery room staff & so on but I loved knowing she has so much experience, equipment and staff just for me and my spine : ~) I've had many conversations w/ Sharon Whittemore NP & JoAn Aguirre RN ( w/ Dr. Hu & Spine Center). They are SO accessible & available, they answer the phone directly no push 1 for... or voicemails. I cannot get used to actually calling & getting them!! What I have experienced each time I've been to the UCSF Spine Center and the Surgery Center is the staff, both medical and nonmedical LIKE their jobs. I love that. I am comfortable with UCSF, the spine center & Dr. Hu but I have zero comfort with MY decision of having surgery. I have had drama within my family and with a few close friends unfortunately their comphrehension of the surgery & recovery is limited, even with repeated attempts to clear up their misinformation & advice about " what " I should do. Actually, it has sucked...I have never felt so overwhelmed & alone..weary of trying to politely educate their ignorant attempts of " help " & advice, I bite my tongue alot, you know when you hear about Uncle 's slipped disc or Aunt Betties kyphoplasty repair. The learning curve is big, and I'm so scared, scared I may embark on this with little or no adult support. My youngest girl, Grace, is a gift. She has a giant generous heart but the fact is she is just 15...Sorry bout the LONG post, I apologize for not checking in but I have not been able to....I've been on a trip to place called " Denial " you know right by , " If I just ignore it all it will go away " ... CAROL- I look forward to hearing about your visit w/ Dr. Hu. and of course the rest of you courageous people. Re: Tahoe fire... late afternoon the fire got away again, causing evacuation of 1000 more people from their homes... the winds are to pick up tomorrow for a " red Flag fire hazard " . Please ask the universe just a little less wind our way... Thanks ...Kim > > > > > Kim, > > > > > > I am so relieved to hear you and your family are > > > safe.
