am fascinated by all the ways to eat garlic!

If I crush mine slightly with the knide handle as its easier

to peel, then chop into small bits and then give a couple of chomps

with the teeth, is that OK???

thanks!

Hi, Persian:

Well, it's my understanding that it's best to press it, but let it set a few

minutes first before you press it. I bought a cheap garlic hand-press at the

grocery store for a few dollars. The whole reason that we press it is to

release the allicin in it-- that stuff that makes it work for us. Check out

some

of Dr. Mercola's articles on garlic:

Greetings to all

YES YES YES you need to chew your food so the first part of the

digestive track can begin to work. Digestion starts in the mouth!!!

And make sure you do not drink anything before the meal...by that I mean

30 minutes before and after is when you could drink something. Try to

have the first things you drink after a meal be hot to help your

digestive fire stay alive.

Good health

Hi Nieema,

I'm a bit confused. Do you mean we should or shouldn't drink anything

within the 30 minutes before and after the meal?

That should work. The 'chomps' - crush, are essential.

Greetings to all

Yes, I am saying just that!!! The digestive juices become diluted when

there is liquid added. They need to be at full strength to do their job

efficiency.

:-) :-)

I remember my mother telling me this when I was a child!!! And she was

not a health concerned person.

I threw away my 'cheap' garlic press. The cheap ones appear to be cast

aluminum, and when you press garlic with it, it produces some dark colored

juices. I spent a little more and got a stainless steel press. Garlic flushes

heavy metals from the body, from my way of thinking you really have to be

careful what you use to press it with or it will draw out the nasty metals from

it.

<<.....I feel that

clove and the digestive juices reacting with the

shaved clove is spread throughout the digestive tract.>>

If it comes out whole (I've had that experience too) it is not digested, the

allium does not come out and there is no benefit from the garlic.
