Guest guest
It is common for people to be sick for a very long time b4 they get proper treatment, so you need to become proactive. I was untreated for 30 years because of tests. Can you post the test results and ranges here? Even though the new TSH range is .03-3 some docs will say that a TSH of 10 is normal. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com Gracia > Hi my name is JoAnn. Guest guest
You know I have been curious about Alvidar too and no where could I find what the ingredients do. I am going to look them up now for us all LOL Iodine stimulates the thyroid and can cause weight loss. Geesh this took all night LOL I went to a lot of trouble so read it!!! First one Laminariae stiptes that is a brown kelp-last word means stalk- so iodine for thyroid gland Fucus vesiculosus or bladder wrack- also from a sea plant contraining iodine however the encyclopeida had this definition... A common rockweed used in preparing kelp and as manure Serenoa repens- or saw palmetto- its a dwarf palm tree from the USA- I've heard of that- used to treat men for enlarged prostate and has a5 reductase effects? WTF does that mean? Ahh it binds DHT effects which helps with hairloss... This Alvidar is sounding better already!!!! I cant' stand my hair... Stimulates breast enlargement. It's anabolic. Yeap used to trewat thyroid and aphrodesiac and frigidty... Who knew.... you need some of this if your out there ..... ima give some to my man... Gentianae radix- treats arthritis mucles and joint pain.. I know a few of you have that...Would that be the fibromalgia deal? Also good for bones and bone pain.... Who knew? Capsicum frutescens- looks like this one is like chili peppers? releieves colds fevers and headaches, ahh gives you a quick energy boost that could cause weight loss, Ahh keeps carbs breaking down slow so it keeps your blood sugar from rising.. Which makes you gain weight... Eechinacea purpurea-fights bacteria and viruses... Ananas comosus- AHA Bromelain- infection, arthritis, joint pain, aids digestion, wounds n burns, OHh now this is interesting. It clears the buildup on your organs and whatever proteins are building up on.. (alzheimers cure?) so the adrenals that are supposed to make your hormones on your kidneys n liver if they aren't working because of this build up this might be something to think about,,, It's from a pineapple...... no kidding. Allium sativum-AKA Garlic.. LOL Why don't they jsut say garlic, reduce high cholesterol, high blood pressure, studies aren't 100% and of course they want you to buy fda drugs instead... blah blah Zingiber officinale- stops nausea, reduces blood sugar, cholesterol, soem studies arthritis, burns and skin irritation. Ginkgo biloba- increases blood flow to the brain, increasing blood flow may relieve some eye conditions, dry eye or that macular degeneration thing they had commericals about a few months ago, Ahh thus increasing your ability to tolerate cold temperatures... that sounds kind of thyroidy, German FDA approved it for treatment of demientia, I gues we are snooty here in USA> The seeds control coughing but dont eat more then 10 a day i guess it's bad and can kill a kid, but that is the seed not the part that's used in alvidar Panax ginseng- this is only Asia ginseng... not any other type. relieves physical and emotional stress. Asian countries still use it to treat heart coditions (PALPS?)also lowers blood sugar and high blood pressure and cholesterol, No kidding it makes estrogen.... Who knew? More research and again not confirmed by FDA... Llex paraguariensis- stimulant, appetite supressor, pretects against stress, wow cytomel was in the same paragraph there.. i guess body builders use it to cut up... But they say to stop taking cytomel after 2 weeks or you risk permamanet thyroid damage.. HMMM.. anyway llex paraguariensis is similar to caffeeine but less side effects... Filipendula ulmaria- AKA Meadow Sweet. Oh that just sounds nice and soothing LOL soothes heartburn, similar to asprinin but gentler on tummy, anti inflamatory. Hypericum perforatum- AKA St JOhns wort- antidepressant, wow even FDA says this one works but it can take a few weeks to relieve depression. also treats anxiety, mood swings, menpause, and PMS. wow even lessens the want for alcohol and nicotine, has antibinding properties that can keep viruses and disease from sticking to your host cells, topical antibiotic, can treat dematitis, relieves skin irritations.... last but not least... Valeriana officianalis- Valerian root contains many different constituents, including essential oils that appear to contribute to the sedating properties of the herb. Central nervous system sedation is regulated by receptors in the brain known as GABA-A receptors. Valerian may weakly bind to these receptors to exert a sedating effect, cures insomnia LOL that would be neat... blood pressure, anti convulsant for epilepsy, no morning grogginess, oh this is interesting, anti tumor effects... i know a lot of you say you have stuff growing on ya... Also reduces stress So I guess in summation it's all herbs. Probably more pure forms then most of the herbal companies throw at GNC. Many of these things have been used since we started keeping time... After looking all these up I can see they would cover just about every symptom hypothyroid causes... I'd say it's worth a shot... Doesn't look like it would interfere. I know some people dont' like the iodine thing but I don't think they know their synthroid and cytomel have 3 ions of iodine in them anyway... If you look at the chemical table it proves this.. or you can use a search bar LOL So whose our first guniea pig??? LOL What really is bothering me though is that thing about the t3 meds causing permanent thyroid damage... Yikes.. Wonder if it would be a good idea to take breaks from the meds every so often... Or perhaps that would be for hashimotos people and not people with no thuroid at all. ×´ ¨) ¸.·´¸.· ´¨) ¸.·*¨) *~ Nikki ~*`·.´·.¸¸.·´¨`» Visit My Blog -- I Literally Stumbled Across The Most Earth Shattering Discover > > Hi , > > Hypothyroidism Expert > Gives Solution > > It's been a few days, and I just thought I would check > on you. Guest guest
See my post of ingredients in Alvidar Yes most have been proven to have the effects to treat the symptoms but FDA doesn't get behind herbs Other countries medical associations (Germany UK Asia) have gotten behind the use of herbs. Guest guest
Hi , I also receive the same information almost ever day from Alvidar. I have repeatedly sent request for someone to tell me if Alvidar is safe. I am allergic to Shrimp and other Crustaceans. I am allergic to the Iodine. I can not have Iodine used on me to cleans the area they are going to perform surgery on. I even have to tell the person's in X-Ray not to use any type of Iodine for testing purposes. I was told by my Medical Doctor never to in jest anything with Iodine. My symptoms when I did in jest shrimp was Swelling!!!! I would swell every time I ate Shrimp. Not just a little swelling, I am talking, my face, hands, feet would become huge. I would swell so bad in my stomach that I looked like I was 8 months preg. No one from Alvidar has answered my question yet,( Will the iodine in Alvidar cause me to go into " Shock " ). Does anyone out there no the answer? and Irwin <familyirwin@...> wrote: Thanks for the reply...is it true that if you patent something, you have to show substantial evidence that it works? Guest guest
The comment about T3 meds causing permanent damage seems to be a throw away line with no references to anything but body building. We all know that these type take terrible risks with their hormone usage. I am not aware of any problems with normal thyroid replacement T3 usage. Guest guest
I was told by my Doctor that I was allergic to the Iodine in the shellfish. Alvidar has yet to respond to my questions. I sent the same information to them 4 times; however, they continually send me updated e-mails stating, " are you not ready to stop your suffering? " . I would LOVE to stop suffering, but I do not want to take a product that may Kill me. I do not know if Kelp would be in the same category as Shellfish. Is there different forms of Iodine and levels? I do not know. Anyone Know? Thanks Nikki for responding. (¯`·._.·[Nikki]·._.·´¯) <AtomicBlonde@...> wrote: Yikes I am not sure it would be worth it to chance it. Guest guest
Tammy, You wrote: > I was told by my Doctor that I was allergic to the Iodine in the > shellfish. Alvidar has yet to respond to my questions. ... First, an allergy is really an immune reaction to a PROTEIN. Elemental iodine or iodide ions cannot provoke a true immune response unless they are attached to a protein that provokes the allergic response. So, you could be allergic to proteins in shellfish, or you could be reacting to iodine, just not an allergic reaction. If it is the former, then the iodine in kelp is unlikely to provoke the same allergic reaction as you had to shellfish, unless you really have an allergy to a protein in kelp, which shellfish also eat or make. If your reaction is actually to iodine and not an allergic one, then you could have a similar reaction to any form of iodine. I don't recall your symptoms, so I could not hazard a guess about what type your reaction is. Neither could the people selling Alvidar. If you are determined to try it, just start with tiny amounts and build up your dosage. Personally, I am skeptical of any iodine supplementation if you are taking a full dose of T4 or T3. These ARE iodine, too. They should supply all the iodine you need. However, if you still have partial thyroid function, then dietary iodine could supplement your medication. Gracia says that is an important part of what makes her feel well, but I am not sure that would be a common condition. Chuck

I am sure that for some whose illness is not yet severe that herbs and iodine supplements can work - it clearly does - but I tried all these things for years before I resorted to hormones so it is a personal matter. it is pretty cheap to try supplements so I say go ahead and try it (so long as you feel it is safe for you) and you will find out soon enough. If What Nikki is saying is true you should feel the effects quite quickly. Guest guest
, About the alvidar, Yes I have been using it to help with fatigue and its ok, not what I expected. I really thought I would be feeling great....... For the amount of money they cost its really not worth it. If anything very dissapointing!!! Liz Baizas <beckbaizas@...> wrote: Gracia, Thank you again for your advice...I am definately going to use Dr, Brownstein...it will be nice to work with a doctor that will work with me. I have always wondered about increasing my armour intake...just always wondered about palpatations. I plan on visiting the adrenal website right after I get done writing you! I think you're right about the palpations being an adrenal issue. As far as ordering Armour online...I have one website with a bunch of pharmacys listed...I think I actually found one but haven't placed the order. Which one do you use? Hey have you heard anything about Alvidar? This is a thyroid supplement that is suppose to help with the classic Hypothyroid symptoms...just curious if anyone has tried it. Gracia <circe@...> wrote: yes of course you need 5 grains at least. I know peeps on 10 grains, used to be common in the old days. Brownstein is the Iodine doc and I hear he is wonderful. You can order thyroid meds fromn the internet you know--I can supply info Best of luck Gracia circe@... The highest dosage I was on was 3 grains and it was decreased by a holistic MD...felt it was too high although he in turn talked me in to by a mess load of his supplements! So you really think I should be on 5 grains? I would be willing to try it...anything to get my life back! You also said I need iodine...I will check into that. I have also decided to make an appointment with Dr. Brownstein...I feel more comfortable seeing a doctor that someone has recommended. Thank you! Gracia <circe@...> wrote: Why oh why oh why would you be on 2 grains Armour? you will need much much more, and also iodine. (all stuff you should have had in the first place). In Michigan there is a Dr. Brownstein, has written several books and is great. Although you will have a wait to see him, he is worth it. Guest guest
Hi Pamela, I just wanted to let you know that i am on my 3rd week using Alvidar. It contains mostly herbs like St. s Wart and Valerian Root. It could be just psychological but I must admit that i do feel better. It really has improved my ability in sleeping through the night. You know us Hypos, hava a hard time sleeping when we are supposed to instead of all morning or in the afternoon. I have lost about 4 pounds since I started it. We all know it is healthier to lose weight in smaller increments, so it has helped. My night time binge eating has stopped as well. I would recommend it. >From: " PAMELA " <PAMELA@...> >Reply-hypothyroidism >hypothyroidism >Subject: ALVIDAR >Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2006 00:05:12 -0000 > >Has anyone tried it... > >Success??? > >Can anyone tell me what the ingredients are??? > >Thank you... > >I'm so frusterated... this is the 3rd time I have put on a bunch of >weight from my levels going off... > >This time is the proving the most difficult to remove the weight!!! > >grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, > >Pamela > > > >
