Guest guest
Judi, All of you are already in my thoughts and prayers. I know what you mean about it not being easy when it is you children. I think it is especially harder on us the parents than it is on the kids. Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. I know that you will be glad to finally get this behind you. mom to Ashton and Landon(DS) 15 months - Judi Grossman <judig2@...> wrote: > From: Judi Grossman <judig2@...> > > Well, we've been making rounds of Dr's getting > opinions regarding > tonsils, adnoids & tubes. Guest guest
Hey Judy, I just wanted to let you know and Alec (the 2 who don't have DS) had to have tubes put in their ears at 9 months and then again at 18 months and finally had T & A and tubes at 2 1/2. Always the surgeries were the same day one right after the other. I was really tuff trying to be there for both. If you can you might what to consider doing the surgeries a week apart. I know it's a pain and my doc insisted on doing them together, but it is so had to try to comfort 2 little ones who are hooked to IV's and in pain. Just wanted to give you my input since I have been there! Also Bill had a T & A at 3 years old but never need tubes. He had severe Obstructive sleep apnea. I hope the surgeries go well for you and the kids. Glad to hear everyone made it through Floyd OK!! - mom of Bill (DS) , and ALec (Trips age4) and Hunter( the queen age2)
Guest guest
Thanks to everybody for their good wishes for the boy's surgery. Since they are not having their tonsils out, it is supposed to be relatively " easy " . Since both Mike & I will be there (plus whatever assorted grandparents can be there) there will be enough arms to hold them when they start coming out of anesthesia! Thanks Again! Guest guest
Hi Judi, My older son (non-DS) has had two sets of tubes put in (at ages 2 and 3) and with the second set they also took out his adenoids. Except for being a little groggy from the anesthesia, he was fine by that night and went back to preschool the following day. Guest guest
Thanks Leigh! Everybody tells me they'll be " fine that afternoon " but It's still nice to hear that others have gone thru it too! Guest guest
Helen had her adenoids removed before she was two. The surgeon tried to fit grommets but her ear canals were too small even for mini grommets. She finally got her grommets when she was 6, this has made an amazing difference to her communication. Both surgeries were just fine, Helen was great. Op in the morning, home in the evening. Good luck with the surgery. Guest guest
Hello , I just want to wish you luck on your surgery. I to am having surgery soon and understand the excitement and nervousness at the same time. Again best of luck, Sheila luv2icesk8lots <luv2icesk8lots@...> wrote: Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a tentative date for surgery of November 14th. This will most likely remain the date, but is tent. because we are waiting for a prior auth from insurance still. I am excited yet nervous. I can't wait to *hopefully* regain some semblance of a "normal" life again. I would like to have A LOT less pain and be able to function in the world again rather than being trapped in my house most of the day. Does this surgery help to relieve some of the pressure from the SI joints? It feels like my SI's are going to explode, and I don't know if it is from the bent forward position, or if they are starting to wear down a bit (I did see some wear in a CT scan I had recently, but the doc didn't seem worried about it) or a combo of the two. Hope everyone is having a great week...wed is already here. Shape in your own image. Join our Network Research Panel today!
Guest guest
Well I did it! I scheduled my revision for January 28th. Am waiting that long for personal and professional reasons. Will be having surgery at HJD with Dr. Errico, anterior/posterior. Some days it feels like a long time away, particularly when I am in pain, other days it seems right around the corner (particularly once the holidays start)! Either way, it gives me time to prepare and hopefully will be recovered enough so that I can attend my daughter's college graduation in Boston in May. Thanks to all on this site for providing an invaluable source of information and experience. Donna

Guest guest
Dear Donna, Congrats on having your date! I totally understand wanting it done yesterday, but also having time to settle things before hand. I had one of my revisions in January, excellent timing, good to not have to be in the brace in the heat, and it's an indoor time of the year anyway so you won't feel like you are missing as much, and by the time you are feeling much better, then comes the Graduation and summer. Take the time left to set up your house for while you are recovering( with an eye to not being able to bend). Also remember the surgery part you have to give to your doc's, but the mental part is all you. See in your mind yourself well, standing upright and having that pain gone. Keeping ones eye on the prize( and it's a good one) helps with the down moments. Know we are all pulling for a very sucessful surgery, and we are here during you runup to surgery if you have any questions! Colorado Springs [ ] Scheduled Surgery Well I did it! Guest guest
& Ken, Thank you so much! Yes, I think January will be a good time of year because the weather will be getting nice just as I hope to be able to maybe start getting outdoors. I agree that attitude is a major part of anything we do in life and I hope to be able to keep a positive one through this. My doctor feels I am a good candidate for a successful outcome so I am going to keep that in mind. I'm sure I'll be looking to you all for future support.
