So it all depends when did you start your P--right after birth or a few months and or when did you start to give your baby cereal? For example I breast feed my daughter for 5 months at the six month time frame while starting her on cereal I got my P--but I did continue to breast feed till she bit me at 13 months than it was time to give it up!! anyway more info on the period here for anyone to read. The alternative stuff really is not alternative--it's the same thing just smaller dose---of thyroid and adrenal glandular's. Vitamins and herbs could be considered alternatives because they support the thyroid not try and replace it. The give it the necessary nutrients it needs to heal and work. Guest guest Posted January 14, 2004 Report Share Posted January 14, 2004 sorry there is no corrolation in regard to health problems having your period while you are nursing--it's just not usual for everyone who nurses full time without feeding the baby regular food as well to have a period. Not at all...nor is it abnormal/rare to menstruate if you are nourishing your baby/toddler with only your breastmilk. My son did not eat " food " other than my milk for quite some time..2 years....he was almost 10 pounds when he was born and more than doubled his weight before he was 1 year solely on breastmilk. I had my monthly period with all 3 of my kids from the get go....as do a lot of other women. There are great groups for breastfeeding support...with lots of info...please don't make comments like " if you feed the baby even juice you will get a Period---so it's very specific in regard to food. " This statement is NOT true at all... It just spreads misinformation regarding nursing....Thank you ) Please don't take offense....none given...
