Guest guest
This probably goes to someone who has a better understanding of our software here...but as I am reading all our introductions it struck me that it would be great if we could somehow link together the intro post with the member listing. In other words...say a year from now a new member jumps in and is having troulbe remembering the particulars about a poster...if there was a way to quickly find that the intro post was #45, they could bring that post up and review the posters details...I know even today it is hard to track of where everyone is. I think Ann is thinking along these lines too. If anyone has any ideas sing out. Maybe we just have to do it as a database? Cam
Guest guest
I hadn't seen this when I sent my last message. Okay...I set up a table in the database section. Under " story posted " , we could list the # of the message. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to imbed links into the database cells. I tried. I added some of the things you mentioned wanting. I don't know if it will grow too large that it will be hard to read/sort. It does allow you to sort by the column headers. Obviously a true database would be much better. Also, as I said, I had started to pull out the " stories " and posted them in the Files section. I am happy to do this..but if people feel that adding the message number to the database file is good enough that would probably be easier. Guest guest
Hi Ann... I think the database will be very useful. I added a test record and was able to copy and paste the URL of Edie's story into the " Story Posted " cell. It's not a hyperlink, but members who are savvy enough to be able to copy and paste can go right to the story. Regards, > I hadn't seen this when I sent my last message. Guest guest
Ann, I like the way you pulled the stories out in a member's file rather than just the numbers. Guest guest
yeah I tried that too and thought the URL took up too much room. It's okay now..but as this thing grows...I think it would be best to just have the number of the post or I will continue to pull out the stories...what do you all think? , please add the link to your site in the link section.
