Guest guest
Hi Lee, Hang in there! Your journey of sound exploration is about to begin!! That month between surgery and activation is sure the longest and hardest part of getting the CI. I wish you the best activation ever! Cheers, Ruth Count Down It is me or what? The longer i went without my hearing aid, as I wait for hook up day,,,,,,,, I yearn for sounds........ Lately, i have often picked up my hearing aid and put it on only to have that implant " lump " to remind me that hearing aid would do me no good. ohhhhhhhh the wait............ 2 more days, Lee Looking for a gift or deco for your home? Guest guest
Lee, Wow, 2 more days and the wait will be over a new leg (or should I say ear?) of your journey will begin. Can't wait to hear how your activation goes. Pleae let us know no matter the results. Hoping for a good activation in which you will get sound. Just remember low expectations. If you hear sound great! anything more is a bonus no matter how it sounds at first. Hang in there and keep us updated. I imagine 2 days will seem like forever huh? LOL Take Care and good luck. Guest guest
Lee.. It really is the count down for you isn't it? I know how hard these days are and I see that you are up very early in the morning typing this so I guess the anticipation is keeping you awake. You are probably dealing with varied feelings.. a little afraid that it isn't going to work, very curiuos as to what it's going to sound like and extremely excited because you are entering a new phase in your life. I wonder if you will sleep tomorrow night. I'm going to be looking forward to your account of the hook up. Please be prepared to take baby steps. If you are fortunate enough to take giant leaps - that would be wonderful - but baby steps are ok too. We're always here for those after the hook up questions, as you probably already know. Guest guest
14 more days to surgery. I am already packed, one bag with silk pajamas (bermuda style) some cotton pants, and some men t's with no sleeves for under brace, The brace will have a thigh cuff so that is why I got the bermuda style pajamas. One bag with waterless tooth paste and face cleansing (Cam's idea) and other stuff One bag if I am feeling good with books, crossword puzzles and c.d. tapes. My neighbor is lending me a laptop so I think I am ready, I have the house organized, just have to put in shower head with rope........my hubby built me a raised garden for vegetables I don't even have to bend at all it is very tall....... We decided to spend the night at the hotel on campus because we have to be at hospital by 5:30. I just want to thank everyone because if it wasn't for everyone I wouldn't not be feeling the way I do, which is not nervous at all just a little anxious to get the day over with but just a little. Thank you Cam so much for giving me the insight to read and read post and articles so I can be knowledgeable which I think helped a whole lot.... Of course praying has helped me get a sense of peace, I also started a journal, I had one from my first surgery so it will be neat to compare the two one day...........
