Guest guest
Hi Tami... I’m wondering how the L3-L4 disc can be damaged if it’s fused. Maybe the fusion never took??? -- On 10/26/06 9:05 AM, " tlsun2462 " <tamisun@...> wrote: I'm sorry , I just re-read that and even I'm confused!! In 1977 I had my scoliosis surgery and was fused from T7 to L4. In 1988 I had to have another surgery due to more disk/vert damage below the fusion and he fused from L3 to sacrum (I thought he fused from L4 to sacrum). He also removed my HR and put in pedicle screws. Now the L3/L4 is damaged and causing me pain. I saw a neurosurgeon (Dr. Adler) who ordered all the tests (MRI, Myelogram etc.) and he never mentioned this to me. I think that makes more sense but let me know if I'm just loony from the oxycodone I'm taking right now. Tami > > He told me I am not fused from L-4 to L-3! Guest guest
Hi Tami... That doesn’t make any sense to me. Since there are 3 discs and 2 vertebrae between L3 and the sacrum, there’s really no way to fuse L3 to the sacrum without fusing L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1. -- On 10/27/06 10:03 AM, " tlsun2462 " <tamisun@...> wrote: Hi , L3/L4 is the only place I'm not fused in my lumbar spine. For some reason Dr. Waldram skipped over that one and fused L3 to sacrum. Let me know if you have any more questions. Tami > >>> > > He told me I am not fused from L-4 to L-3! Guest guest
Hi ... I’ve actually heard of people who have two separate fusion masses (e.g. T3-T12 and L5-S1). However, since Tami is saying they fused L3 to the sacrum has to include the vertebrae and discs in between. I guess theoretically, they could fuse L3 to the sacrum with rods, but the rods would almost certainly break. -- On 10/27/06 11:41 AM, " " <Dawg@...> wrote: This is correct Tami - if you had your original surgery in 1977 and you were fused from T7 to L4, then again in 1988 you were fused from L3 to the sacrum.....then you are totally fused from T-7 all the way to the sacrum hun. There is no way you could even HAVE any unfused vertebra to cause you problems! It may be that you are having some other sort of problem though? ~~ > >>>>>>> > >>> > > He told me I am not fused from L-4 to L-3! Guest guest
Tami, L4 is between L3 and the sacrum. If you were fused from L3 to the sacrum, that would have to include L4.
