Guest guest
--Val, I had the same thing after surgery. I felt bad for my brotherinlaw, I was staying with my sister outside of Boston before I flew back to Phila. , I would be in the kitchen and start crying, he was like " can I do something for you? " THere was nothing anyone could do for me...I just can't explain it...but I am fine now, it only happened for about 2 weeks after surgery and then I was back to myself...I can';t explain it, I just can tell you it happened to me too!!!! I am so happy you are home and doing well...each week you will be so surprised how much better you feel. I just returned from a big day at the mall with my 14 year old daughter, she was so surprised how well I did, no wheel chair, wakling and walking for hours....she needs a dress for her 8th grade graduation and it just took all day, hours actually for her to pick one out she liked. I never thought I would see these days again!! , PA - In , " redmarmie " <vclark@...> wrote: > > HI, > Ok all you post surgical gals, what the heck, I thought the faucets > were bad before the surgery, but as great as mine went, I am > constantly warding off the tears, what gives? Guest guest
, I don't know for sure, but I think the waterworks can be somewhat attributed to the pain meds/narcotics. I had the same experience and noticed that I was not as emotional as I began coming back on the dose later on in the healing. It just gradually got better. I don't think you can discount the fact that you have just undergone a major surgery and survived it, and it also may be your body/mind having it's release. I think as " ready " as any of us are to have this surgery, and as much as we tell ourselves it is going to be fine....to actually get through it, well, it's something that you might expect to have some reprecussions. Kinda like surviving a car wreck and starting to shake a day later....post traumatic stress? Who knows. Let the tears roll...they are probably healing! Guest guest
, I know what you mean. I had an old, old friend visiting and I just started to cry and cry. She asked what is the matter? I said, I am doing great, there is nothing wrong, just get me a mop. My sister, said there is a post partum that is associated with surgery. Great! I'm not falling for that, next thing you know, depression will be knocking on the door.. Eeek. Wow , a mall, I haven't been to a mall in about 10 years. Not even Christmas, I just couldn't take a pounding on the old hips. But now, the mall will go on my " green' list. A green list, is a list of things, i will do when I feel better, that are things I could not do in the past. So far, this list has: the mall, Santa's village, Christmas in July, walk to the beach from the camp, usually I use the golf cart, walk up to Hermit Island. > I had the same thing after surgery. Guest guest
I cried a lot too - after my surgery. I'm better now at the 6 month mark - but when I start to think of what I went through I do start to get emotional. I know now that I'm very brave. Anyway - I did some gardening yesterday - I planted 24 begonias in my front yard -. I have a great knee pad and the warm sun feels great! Guest guest
Hi Lorrie, How wonderful for you and the garden. Here I am complaining that I am upset still after a week. I am such an impatient sort. I walked two houses down yesterday and loved it. > > I cried a lot too - after my surgery. Guest guest
Yea - I'm doing a little gardening here and there - my husband bought me the greatest garden hose recoiler. All you do is move a leaver while the water is turned on and it automatically winds itself up - it is amazing. To garden I just pretty much sit on my knees - I can't stay there too long but enough to get plants in the ground. Guest guest
I just read about 's trip to the Mall & thought I would add my 2 cents for Joylnn. Before my Revision 10mts ago I could not walk without the use of a Rolling . A trip to the Mall, you got to be kidding, I had not gone shopping for at least 5 yrs, nor did I want to. Last Sat I went to Walmart...............I was there for 3 hrs & on my feet most of the day. I got home at 7pm & although I was very tired, I had had a BALL. I also had thought those days were over & NOW I am like a kid in a candy store anytime I go to a store. I can even try on clothes again & OH since my Revision I lost the 35lbs I gained when I was unable to walk !!! An EXCELLENT EXCUSE for buying a whole new wardrobe. Sometimes I feel like I am 16 again. So you have ALOT to look forward to. Diane B. Guest guest
Shopping is my favorite activity. I don't have to buy anything, but I love to look. I have been to a few places for an hour or so to look for " soft " stretchy clothes to wear during recovery. I get so mad because I use to be able to wear anything I wanted. Now I am all crooked and everything seems to make it look worse. I did get a few things, but I can't wait to put clothes on and think something other than " Wow this outfit does not make me look as twisted as the last one. " It stinks when I wear pants that button they dig into my stomach because I am hunched over. Mean while they stick out in the back because I have to get too big a size to accomidate that I am always bent over. When I squat I get Plummers crack (DH tries to drop pennies in). I just can't wait to wear clothes because I like them.
