Guest guest
Hi , You are absolutely right...as a matter of fact, Dr Hertoghe mentions it in his book " The hormone solution " . He claims among other things that the doses of HGH he prescribes are psysiological, unlike doses used by for instance body builders...Dr Hertoghe replaces what the body needs but cannot produce itself, while therapeutic doses can be way too high and create all kinds of side effects. My GP was very surprised to hear that I was only taking 2 mg of Medrol a day...he (wrongly) assumed that if you take hydrocortisone, you have to take at least 10 mg a day! He even said: " Why would you want to take 2 mg; that cannot be very effective? " Thank you for this very interesting and very accurate reply! I will make sure to raise it with Hertoghe when I see him next time in May, and I will also ask him what to tell (stupid) GPs trying to interfere with his treatment...just before Christmas, my GP told me that he had never heard of anyone with Hashimotos being prescribed Armour...according to him, Armour or synthetic T3+T4 drugs are only justified if patients have had their thyroid gland entirely removed! In all other cases, they should be able to produce the T3 they need themselves...! Catarina --------------------------------- Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. As completely and certifiably incompetent as that sounds, we should consider the huge volumes of information doctors are asked to assimilate in the course of medical school training. My own doctor once complained that they only spent about 30 minutes on the mouth. They really do learn much of their expertise AFTER formal schooling and internship. Your doctor may have had the flu the day they covered endocrinology. I suggest you start mailing him scholarly material, starting with the appropriate chapter of the Merck Manual. Guest guest
WEll patients here are only Rxed T4 meds after RAI or thyroidectomy, so your GP is still ahead of docs here. These are some of the very sickest people. Gracia > Thank you for this very interesting and very accurate reply!
