Guest guest
Hi Had my 12 week post op with Dr. Hu yesterday. When they took me back for my xrays, I was delighted to be able to step right up, being able to just stand there with out fighting standing up. Felt so good! Dr. Hu said that the xrays looked good and all was healing perfectly! Her word. Perfect! And to think I was scared to death to go in. The big 'what if something is wrong' question really was in my mind for the past few weeks. Whew! Also had an appt. in Orthotics to get my brace 'tweaked'. Boy did they tweak it. It fit so terrible it has my left hip so tender and sore. It would bring tears to my eyes when I would roll over at night. They put a huge layer of foam on the hip, trimmed it all down so it wouldn't rise up into my neck anymore. They trimmed down the right back side of it, so now it pulls to the right causing even more pressure on my hip. I give up. Dr. Hu told me it was fine to start 'weaning' myself out of it. So I will only wear it when doing the very light 'dinking' around the house that I do, and riding in the car, or if we go out. Because of the pain it has caused my hip, its pretty much the only reason I take any pain meds still. Usually in the morning and late afternoon. I am real happy with myself with just those few doses I take. I am still working onthe journal. Hopefully will have it on line by this weekend. And thats that! hugs to all

Glad you get to wean out of the brace, I hated mine, and I had mine through three recoveries, wore that buggar for a total of a year, then when I was done with it I ran it over with my van. Guest guest
, High fives all around!! That must have been exciting and a relief to get such a good report from DrHu. I am glad to hear you are able to wean off the brace too. From here on you will start to see it slowly get easier...and inch by inch you will feel stronger. Did you happen to hear anything about Carol? I assume she went home over the weekend. Take Care, Cam

Guest guest
HI , I just love that you rode over your brace with your van! After my first surgery, I wore an awful 25 lb, plaster cast for nine months. I didn't think to ask to keep it when they sawed it off. I guess I was more interested in taking my first shower in nine months. But now I wish I had kept it, just to have the privilege of destroying it! Guest guest
I am glad I kept mine. The shutterbugs team on sparkpeople has weekly photo assignments and was almost ready to give up on finding a good color contrast photo until I moved my cast out of the way to get something else http://farm1.static.flickr.com/180/394317829_11b8e4e360_o.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/bahadreama > > HI , > > I just love that you rode over your brace with your van!
