Guest guest
Does anyone out there have a child with AIH? My daughter is believed to have it but she doesn't fall into any of the 3 types of AIH. I think I am still in denial!!! In 5 months her levels when down to normal. But now they are slowly climbing. I just look at my daughter in awe! How strong she is and brave. We get blood work every 3 weeks and sometimes she wimpers and a couple of times she just put her arm out and not a sound came out of her. The first time that happened, I went out and bought her a huge motorized Barbie Jeep to ride around in! Anyways, it would be nice to talk to someone who has a child with AIH. Guest guest
Hi , My son was diagnosed with AIH when he was 11, he is 12 now. There are quite a few other children represented here including a 3 year old boy named Ronnie. What is your daughter's name? Is she on any meds? Please feel free to express your concerns, joys and questions. Guest guest
, hello and welcome to the group! My name is Kathy and my little 3 yr old boy, Ronnie, was diagnosed with AIH this past April, 01. It's been a rough year though, getting to this point. I too, had been in denial and it is still very hard to accept that my beautiful baby could have some terrible disease. We have alot of family and friends supporting us and a great team of doctors plus this group, whom I read faithfully every night looking to educate myself because I am my son's biggest advocate. Your daughter will do just fine. The young ones are so resilliant to whatever treatments the doctors order. I sometimes think its harder on us as parents to stand by and watch and wonder how we can help. The best thing you can do for your daughter is give her lots and lots of love and try to explain to her what is going on so she isn't so scared. Kids understand more than you think. Ronnie is good with his labs but still cries. I think because he knows (the lab tech) will give him stickers if he makes a fuss! I know Ronnie thrives on routine so I take him to the same lab, to the same tech every time we have to go. It helps because he knows what is going to happen and he looks forward to seeing . I give him his Prednizone and Imuran every morning with his breakfast - he calls them vitamins and swallows them up with no hassle. I don't make a big deal about the AIH and I think that is what is helping him accept his condition. I don't buy him things or reward him for doing what needs to be done. He gets lots of special gifts/treats/special times with mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc. without associating the act to the AIH condition. This way he knows he is special and loved but he is no different then any other 3 yr old kid. Sorry so long. Good luck with everything and please keep in touch.
