I was wondering what dose of pred. you're taking right now, and what was the previous dose, and when was it cut down? Another question, how long have you been on 10mg or less? I'm not a doctor and hesitate to challenge the decision of someone's physician. It seems that your withdrawal from pred. is awfully rapid considering you've been on it for 2 years??? I'm probably confused about this. I was told by a doctor that when you stop taking prednisone there are no residual amounts left in your system. The side effects may hang on for days, weeks, or months, depending what they are. Isn't that GRAND! Your adrenal glands produces about 10mg of cortisone a day, but cease production while your taking at least that amount of pred. Once your dose of pred is reduced below 10mg, your adrenal glands kick in to make up the difference. Unfortunately it may take days weeks or a a month or two for production to begin. It's during these lag times that joint pain, fatigue, etc, increases. It's considered rare for a persons adrenal glands to stop producing cortisone because of pred. If anyone has different information, or can clarify, please advise. Maybe there have been new developments in the withdrawal from pred. which I'm not aware of. I'd like to know.
