Guest guest
I'm on my 2nd liver doc, neither of them have told me the Pred is forever. Both their goals have been to have me completely off. The first doc had me on around 9 mo.both times (I didn't have to take anything once my labs were " normal " for 6 months). This new doc said that isn't working because of the relapses, so he is planning to keep me on low dose of Pred for 1 year of normal labs, then just the Imuran at 50 to see how that works. Personally, I think I relapsed this last time due to extreme stress (someone very close to me was murdered), but they won't give you an answer when you attribute this illness to stress. Both docs agree there is no alternative to the Pred (believe me, I've tried). What condition is your liver in right now? I'm at 3rd level fibrosis. I read another post where someone said their purple marks went away about 6 mo.after being off Preds, too. Hope I answered some of your questions, >From: " Wilcher " <stephwilcher@...> >Reply- egroups > egroups >Subject: [ ] (unknown) >Date: Fri, 12 Jan 2001 09:21:59 -0500 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >X-Originating-IP: [209.92.6.171] >Received: from [208.50.99.230] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id >MHotMailBC285E43006940042A0ED03263E63BDA32; Fri Jan 12 06:23:24 2001 >Received: from [10.1.4.53] by c9. with NNFMP; 12 Jan 2001 >14:22:52 -0000 >Received: (EGP: mail-6_3_1_3); 12 Jan 2001 14:22:21 -0000 >Received: (qmail 17824 invoked from network); 12 Jan 2001 14:22:00 -0000 >Received: from unknown (10.1.10.26) by l7. with QMQP; 12 Jan >2001 14:22:00 -0000 >Received: from unknown (HELO hotmail.com) (209.185.241.102) by mta1 with >SMTP; 12 Jan 2001 14:22:00 -0000 >Received: from mail pickup service by hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; >Fri, 12 Jan 2001 06:21:59 -0800 >Received: from 209.92.6.171 by lw3fd.law3.hotmail.msn.com with HTTP; Fri, >12 Jan 2001 14:21:59 GMT >From sentto-165537-27084-979309343-juliek79 Fri Jan 12 06:23:51 2001 >X-eGroups-Return: >sentto-165537-27084-979309343-juliek79=hotmail.comreturns (DOT) onelist.com >X-Sender: stephwilcher@... >X-Apparently- egroups >Message-ID: <F102iS1vhXt98JiIHlj000065d6@...> >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 12 Jan 2001 14:21:59.0960 (UTC) >FILETIME=[06A89980:01C07CA3] >Mailing-List: list egroups; contact > -owneregroups >Delivered-mailing list egroups >Precedence: bulk >List-Unsubscribe: <mailto: -unsubscribeegroups> > >Hi .......I guess that I was just hoping that my doctor was just being >stubborn when saying he didn't want to put me on anything else. Guest guest
Hi , Most researchers agree that stress can aggravate autoimmune processes. They don't believe that it causes the illness but rather triggers it and makes the symptoms worse once you have developed it. I suffered many severe consequences of being on long term, high doses of prednisone, so I certainly agree that everyone's goal should be to get to the lowest dose possible that still controls the disease.
