I'm sorry I didn't know what ALJ meant? I'm also on SSDI. I can't believe

the battles people have to go through to get it. I was one of the lucky ones

I guess-mine went straight through.

By the way I have an appointment 8/4/99 at Mayo with Dr Czaja. So you

thought he was pretty good? Do you have any recommendations as to where to

stay?

Thanks

Susie

Susie,

My appeal before the Administrative Law Judge was approved. I'll be getting

all my back benefits.

The Administrative Law Judge found that autoimmune hepatitis and sleep apnea

are severe impairments within the meaning of the regulations. He also found

that I had mild depression (find me someone with a chronic disease who

doesn't!). His determination of residual function was that I was credible

when I said I could only work for about 2 to 3 hours without having to stop

because of fatigue. My consistent work history at much higher wages than

SSDI, added to my credibility.

The amount of benefits is determined by your work history. I believe I'm at

the maximum which is 1236/month for me and 614/month for my dependant child.

The maximum family benefit is 1850/month. After 2 years, you are eligible

for Medicare.

Not much, but it sure helps.
