Guest guest
Don So are you still trying to SSDI? Just curious. You've been trying for 2 years and been denied? Thanks Susie

I'm also on SSDI. I can't believe the battles people have to go through to get it. I was one of the lucky ones I guess-mine went straight through. By the way I have an appointment 8/4/99 at Mayo with Dr Czaja. So you thought he was pretty good? Do you have any recommendations as to where to stay? Thanks Susie

Guest guest
Congratulations Don! Just out of curiosity, how did you qualify and what do they base the monthly payments on? I guess its good to know just in case! Elena --- Don Hanson <donhanson@...> wrote: > From: " Don Hanson " <donhanson@...> > > Susie, > My appeal before the Administrative Law Judge was > approved. The Administrative Law Judge found that autoimmune hepatitis and sleep apnea are severe impairments within the meaning of the regulations. He also found that I had mild depression (find me someone with a chronic disease who doesn't!). His determination of residual function was that I was credible when I said I could only work for about 2 to 3 hours without having to stop because of fatigue. My consistent work history at much higher wages than SSDI, added to my credibility. The amount of benefits is determined by your work history. I believe I'm at the maximum which is 1236/month for me and 614/month for my dependant child. The maximum family benefit is 1850/month. After 2 years, you are eligible for Medicare. Not much, but it sure helps. Don (AIH/Minneapolis)
