How did you know that you received the ha virus? Was it in the subject line of what?

It doesn't come through the list. It is sent to you from someone who is infected that has you in their address book. Unsubbing won't help.

The only mail I have recieved is from the list and from no one else when I have recieved these viruses. I don't understand! Lori

You don't have to ever have received mail from the sender. If, for example, I put you into my address book and I become infected with many of the new viruses, you, and everyone else in my address book will be sent the virus. I'm sure I have people in my address book that I haven't written to in years, if ever. But, if I were infected, they would all get a message. In the case of hahaha, it changes the from line and sends itself through a remailer, so it's impossible to track down where it came from. In other cases, you can see who sent it and warn them that they are infected. The good thing about hahaha, is that it doesn't autoexecute. As long as you don't open the attachment, you will not be infected. It's annoying, but not terribly dangerous.

Will I am not too smart about these things either? When you get a virus, how can you tell? I mean what happens?

That really depends on the virus. Some are merely annoying, others can wipe out your hard drive and you lose all of the data stored there, not to mention the time and expense of reformatting and starting all over.
