Not yet!!!

But my docs keep on checking for them! Apparently its common for us

to have more than 1 autoimmune disorder. They thought I had

ulcerative colitis, but don't yet. And I have horrible harsh raised

red lines on my hips and legs, which they thought was due to the

pred, but now think it may be another autoimmune disorder. I've had

loads of tests and will find out in a couple of weeks.

Best wishes

I have vitiligo too, plus a host of other diseases. Interestingly enough, vitiligo is one of the tell tale signs of AIH! I found that very interesting since my grandmother and mother had and have this disease!

[ ] Other Autoimmune disorders?

I was born with an autoimmune disorder called VITILIGO. It is the immune system attacking the pigmant in the skin causing white patches of skin. When I was 27 i was diagnosed with Autoimmune hepatitis in advanced stage. Does anyone out there have other Autoimmune Disorders?

Many of us have more than one autoimmune disorder. Also, many of us have family members with other autoimmune disorders. If you have one, the odds go up that you'll have another.

Also, I also meant to mention that other members of this group have vitiligo.

I have sever nausea today. I did not take my urso because I had to leave

the house in a hurry. Could lack of urso cause the nausea?

Thats what I thought at first, so I didn't say anything to my doc, I

then showed them to my mum and a few friends who all said that they

aren't like any stretch marks they had ever seen.

I've showed them to my doc and he is the one who thinks they may be

caused by another autoimmune disorder. So he's run some tests and I'm

going to go to see a dermatologist. I would like them to just be

stretch marks!

Harper,

Thanks for the info, I've recently moved house and I've 'lost' my

Palmer book. Sounds like the vasculitis, but who knows!!

The only thing is that they seem to be getting worse, and def not

improving, as the pred is dropped, thats what made my doc run more

tests, will keep you updated though!

I love this group! It's v good to know were not alone, sometimes you

don't want to bother your doc over silly things, so it's good to ask

questions, and get answers. Thanks everyone!

Hi Christie,

My 8 yr. old daughter Lexi has the same - JRA and hypothyroidism. She was

diagnosed with the JRA at about age 3, but not diagnosed on the thyroid until

almost 6. According to her rheumy it is apparently very common to have more

than 1 autoimmune disorder per child...and apparently we have a string of

autoimmune disorders running in our entire family!

Other autoimmune disorders?

Hi all,

My 5 year old Abby (poly, uveitis) was just diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid

disease. Dealing with her hypothyroidism is fairly straightforward (I have adult

onset hypothyroidism, which is treated with daily replacement hormone) but it

concerns me that she has developed a second autoimmune disease. How many others

have kids with multiple autoimmune diseases? Our new pediatric rheumatologist

said this was fairly common, but we are a bit shaken nonetheless. Anyone else

dealing with this?

Funny, my daughter, Abby, also five has pauci extended. She does not have

another autoimmune disease, but I have Graves disease. I had hyperthyroidism,

but now have hypo after tx. My hubby's cousin also has Graves disease and her

daughter had pauci arthritis too. Interesting, is there links between thyroid

disease and arthritis? I have heard that with having one autoimmune disorder

your more likely to have another, but not sure of the exact study.

All are auto immune in nature. According to my son's first rheumy, these kids

have " hyper " immune systems which can cause this. Their immune systems are out

of whack, if you will. Michele ( 22, spondy)
