Last time I saw my doctor I joked that at my age, things would be " breaking " even if I didn't have AIH. There are probably endless possibilities and many of them are benign if uncomfortable and even very painful. I appreciate his thoroughness in checking for AVN, since any of us taking Prednisone are at risk, though the risk is not enormously high. I always thought that sciatica is basically a pinched nerve? I don't really know, but that's of course possible, too. Especially if it also affects the knees and feet, which are the other areas that are causing so much pain. Whatever it is, it's here to stay though some days are worse than others. Once I can get onto my feet I can walk normally after a minute or two, but getting up is not pleasant. And, after walking around a bit, the pain settles in my knees and the fronts of my upper legs. I've never had an MRI so it won't hurt to check it out and hope for the best. I won't have an MRI until the end of November, though, unless something drastic happens earlier. I guess an X-ray only shows AVN when it's fairly advanced, so I'm hoping nothing at all shows up there. Take care, Geri
