Karishma, I had two of mine extracted awhile back, pre AIH dx and you gotta be careful about the dry sockets. When the clot comes out, it is painful and you should see the doctor right away. I want to say they give you anitbiotics if that happens also. It's been awhile, I am sure others on the site may have had extractions more recently. Guest guest
My daughter proved to be "allergic" to the codeine she was given after the extractions. We had to take her to the emergency room because she became dehydrated from vomiting. We learned that many people have bad reactions to codeine; if you feel ill when you begin taking it, stop immediately. Harper
Guest guest
I had all four of mine pulled out a couple of years ago. They took all four at the same time. It actually wasn't that bad. It hurts for a couple of days, you might get a couple of stiches. I told the dentist that I was on prednisone and Imuran and they checked with a doctor to make sure that the anastesia they were going to give me was ok. If you only have one remooved you can probably eat. I don't know, but I had to be on liquid food for a couple of days. Don't worry. It's not that bad Heidi Gardarsson > has anyone had a wisdom tooth extraction??? im hving one tomm and am > petrified!!! any advice wud be great!! thanx > > > K. > > > Karishma, > I had two of mine extracted awhile back, pre AIH dx and you gotta be > careful about the dry sockets. Guest guest
Well, today, I just came back from having a titanium rod implant. It was very easy and I am having very little pain. I guess I was under the anesthetic for one hour at least. THey woke me up for Xrays and then they took me back and finished sewing me up. Pretty cool! Just a little numbness in the jaw where I guess they gave me novacane, but other than that, I am doing great! In a month or so, I will be getting my tooth! THat will be great! Take care....debby Re: [ ] wisdom tooth! My daughter proved to be "allergic" to the codeine she was given after the extractions. Guest guest
Hi K: As you might remember I work for a dentist and yes I have had wisdom teeth removed. Very Important not to get a dry socket. Don't rinse or spit the first day. Don't drink anything that bubbles and don't drink through a straw. Tomorrow very gently rinse with warm salt water every time you think of it. Good luck and God bless I know those things can be a pain. Guest guest
Genny, have you ever heard of patients with AIH having problems with a titanium implant? I didn't really research it before having it done yesterday. Today, I must say, I am having quite a bit of pain...and look like Charlie Chipmunk! Silly me to believe them when they told me that it was easier surgery than having the tooth cut out! Darn! I really AM gullible. But hey, tomorrow is Sunday and I know that I will be better! debby Re: [ ] wisdom tooth! Hi K: As you might remember I work for a dentist and yes I have had wisdom teeth removed. Guest guest
Dear Debby, I am trying to remember for sure if you are the one that is a celiac?? If you are, did you check all the meds and anethestics for gluten. You may be having some gluten reactions (other than intestinal). We learned the hard way. So many doctors aren't aware of the gluten that can be in all kinds of meds -- including my gastro! If you aren't gluten intolerant -- sorry, I wasn't sure.
