Guest guest
Dear : Yes, its true. Once you're " on " synthroid, from a medical perspective, you're on it for life. Thats because synthroid is a synthetic " replacement " for your own thyroid hormone. However, no one or hardly anyone, ever needs synthetic drugs for thyroid replacement...only when you've been conned into surgery or RAI. go to www.thyrodine.com and learn how to " treat " your own thyroid problem, naturally and effectively. Guest guest
Dear Sharon: Drugs are not an answer for most health problems. If you will access www.thyrodine.com you'll find all the data you need to be able to intelligently handle your own health problem. The makers of synthroid have paid out many millions of dollars to people severely injured from synthroid. Why is it that we willingly take drugs into our bodies when 9 times out of 10 they are not indicated??? The Journal of the AMA admits that prescription drugs are the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA. Taking drugs is worse than playing russian roulette, well, at least as dangerous. Guest guest
You probably didn't hear from me before, because I don't consistently read or post to this list anymore, since I no longer have a thyroid problem. The reason I still subscribe, for now, is because my cousin has a thyroid problem. I don't think she's very open to alternative treatments though, so I'll probably unsubscribe soon. Thyrodine did work for me though. I did step down very slowly and my doctor helped me by giving me lower doses of Synthroid. Guest guest
I stepped down gradually 12.5 mcg every two weeks or so. I broke the Synthroid tablets into halves and quarters and had my doctor give me lower doses to help me to step down. At first, I stepped down to none a little too quickly and had to go back up to 75 mcg and step the rest of the way down more slowly. It's great not to be dependent on Synthroid! donna dixon-manios wrote: > > > Tell us more!!!! > > I am thinking of using Thyrodine and I would like to hear about your > experience. > > Donna in TO > > >From: Kip King <wodi007@...> > >Reply-hypothyroidismegroups > >hypothyroidismegroups > >Subject: Re: Synthroid > >Date: Mon, 04 Sep 2000 10:20:56 -0700 > > > >It wasn't true for me. Guest guest
Hi Jay: I;ve been away for a week (To Mexico) and I am just getting caught up with messages.... so if I am repeating someone else, I apologize. I switched from Synthroid to Armour overnight. I felt better within 3 days. However, I am also taking a lot of food supplements, DHEA , Cq10, All the B;s, Magnesium, MSM etc etc. Makes a HUGE difference and worth the expense. Hope everyone has the same experience. rochanah weissinger > Hi all, > > Is it hard to switch from Synthroid to Armour Thyroid? Guest guest
, I think it depends on the climate you live in. I live in a warm, humid climate so I refrigerate my thyroid medication. In this climate, though, I also have to refrigerate all breads, rolls, and other baked goods. If you live in a cool or arid climate you might be able to get away without refrigerating your meds. Best wishes, Celeste Pierce wrote: > Does anyone know for sure if Synthroid should be refrigerated? I've heard > people say both.

Guest guest
well dosing on Armour is easy. I never went by TSH, just took the amount that made me feel good. My TSH is very low (docs would say slightly hyper) but the free T3 and free T4 tests are midrange. I think the free tests are a much better guage than the TSH. I really don't watch my weight and cholesterol at age 55. My teeth have gotten much thicker (visable portion of the skeleton), they were almost see thru in my twenties. I have never done a bone scan because I don't want to subject myself to any more x-rays. Guest guest
thank you for all the information,,,you have giving me!!~ Ferd31366@... wrote:, They say to take it in the AM and wait to eat about 2 hours. If you choose to take it with food always take it with food. You body doesn't absorb it as well with food. So the idea is if you eat with it you will be put on more. I don't know what other symptoms you have however here is a list of the symptoms of Hypothyroid and what the Synthroid will correct I am including a link to the webpage so you can read about your disorder. Another group you might want to try is Thyroiditis. Excellent support group and they have answered a lot of questions I have had about this rather nasty disease. Health : Thyroiditis Hypothyroidism: symptoms, dangers, and treatments. I encourage you to read about your condition to better improve the quality of your life before it starts getting bad. I choose to ignore my symptoms and boy am I paying the price. Good luck and we are here if you need us. Guest guest
What Jan said describes me exactly. I also lost weight on T4 by itself, but I started feeling much more like my " real " self after the T3 was added. Sheila janjv1311 <janaina@...> wrote:Cytomel is T3. It is not true that you need T3 for weight loss - what you need is balanced thyroid levels, and getting to a point where you have none of the other symptoms. But it seems that for most people, that can only be achieved with a combo of T4 and T3, such as Synthroid + Cytomel, or Armour or Naturethroid. For me, when I was on T4 only, I could lose weight - but the other symptoms, like the fatigue, low body temperature, and brain fog, only went away when I started T3. That is when I could feel like myself again. Guest guest
Just couldn't ignore this string. I did great on synthroid for the first 6 years. Truley had no issues and lost tons of weight. But, suddenly the condition got worse and couldn't clear it up with more synthroid. The addition of T3 did the job. So if you can't get your doctor to consider synthroid try fighting the inclusion of T3. Regardless of the labs it appears to be essential for some of us. > > > yes but in real life too, I don't know a person on $ynthroid who is well. > > Mostly they have mood/weight issues if they are young, more serious ones as > > they age.
