Guest guest
I don't think of symptoms being under control! The idea is to give your body what it needs so you can be well, working WITH your body. You should not have any hypo symptoms when you are adequately treated. Guest guest
I know for me, on Armour I was still incredibly tired all of the time. I could barely concentrate, I would get winded walking up the stairs. This went on for six months before I contacted my doctor and she agreed to let me try Synthroid. I now take one Synthroid and 20mcg of Cytomel daily. I have greatly improved. I still have issues with hair loss and dry skin. I guess I will just have to give up on those ever being normal. . Guest guest
, I had the same problem with Armour.I had to go back to the synthetics also.In my case it was Thyrolar, but no one is the same and what works for one does not always work for others. This disease is tricky that way.As for the hair loss and dry skin,I also had the hair loss on Armour and once I switched back to Thyrolar the hair loss stopped.Maybe dosage difference,Or maybe you need your adrenals checked, like I said ,...tricky,tricky,,..I hope you find what you need. Guest guest
That's a great question,Tina,..I wish I knew.I have the worst Drs. in my small town. The last Dr. I had left and I had no choice but to see the next in line at the same office.I don't think they would even know what Hashi's was....seriously....I decided to request a 6month script and search for a GOOD Dr. in Austin, which is 60 miles from here.I have a 2yr old so it is really hard to find someone to watch him and no insurance so we all know how that is when trying to make an appointment with a new Dr....anyway,I would guess you are probably right from my symptoms. Thanks for all the info.,Tina,... I really enjoy all of your posts.I am learning TONS!!!....I just learned from one of your post that progesterone levels drop 50% after tubal ligation.....of which I had shortly before my thyroid problems started....DR. didn't both to tell me that one!!! Thanks again, Deneen:)
Guest guest
You never know what we can find!!! You know even the doctors at my daughters school don't know what it means to have low blood pressure with low temps.---and losing hair, cold hands, bathroom situation, no periods--ect. do you think any of them went to medical school?? They kept doing pregnancy tests, over and over again. Total Idiots!!! You can't believe my anger here and I have to hold it in because she is back at that school!!! She kept on asking them is it normal to have a temp. of 96??? And they said YES-- can you believe that one!!!!! Well I am assuming and tell me more symptoms that you have Hashi's, have a goiter as well?? or had one. Let us know--I think we are doing better than 90% of them. -- In hypothyroidism , jezebel56@w... wrote: > That's a great question,Tina,..I wish I knew.I have the worst Drs. in my > small town. The last Dr. I had left and I had no choice but to see the > next in line at the same office.I don't think they would even know what > Hashi's was....seriously....I decided to request a 6month script and > search for a GOOD Dr. in Austin, which is 60 miles from here.I have a 2yr > old so it is really hard to find someone to watch him and no insurance > so we all know how that is when trying to make an appointment with a new > Dr....anyway,I would guess you are probably right from my symptoms. > Thanks for all the info.,Tina,... Guest guest
thyrolar has a higher dose of t3 it's 4 to one with t4 instead of the other way around---so you had a higher dose of t3---hmmm so you did better on a higher dose of t3---is that your problem converting t4 into t3?? gee if your hair grew back I was thinking of this drug today to try at some point for my daughter since this is her problem she is not converting t4 into t3. -- In hypothyroidism , jezebel56@w... wrote: > , > I had the same problem with Armour.I had to go back to the synthetics > also.In my case it was Thyrolar, but no one is the same and what works > for one does not always work for others. This disease is tricky that > way.As for the hair loss and dry skin,I also had the hair loss on Armour > and once I switched back to Thyrolar the hair loss stopped.Maybe dosage > difference,Or maybe you need your adrenals checked, like I said > ,...tricky,tricky,,..I hope you find what you need. > Deneen:) > > > >
Guest guest
Tina, My hair did not grow back but I had super thick hair so the loss is noticable but not a problem.I stopped losing so it is fine now.My first Dr. was great because he listened to me and I would bring him things from the internet I printed. He would read them and we discussed different meds.We started the conversion protocol for Thyrolar which was to up my dosage every two months to the highest dose of Thyrolar III(150mcg T4 and 37.5mcg T3)to see if that was my problem.Well he left while I was on Thyrolar II and so I just requested the highest dosage from the next in line Dr. at the same office and they gave it to me.I do think I have a conversion problem. As for the goiter,I have never had that problem,UNTIL,.I went off my meds completly for a month. My face swelled like crazy and I couldn't swallow so I am sure that was the problem there.I started back on meds and swelling went down.I know that the meds are helping but I felt worse on them than off but I had to get the swelling to go away.Anyway, sorry for the long post:) Deneen:)
Guest guest
you need(ed) adrenal hormones. Guest guest
Please never apologize for a long post, mine are forever long!!! It's better to write everything down, you never know if someone else had the same experience and they can then add in their opinion. I really can't say here what is going on with you, all I can do is offer an opinion and send in links, hopefully reading some of them gives us all ideas. Nothing is this illness is right for everyone, Chuck is doing great on synthroid, others love armour and need cytomel with it---some are allergic to armour, other have adrenal fatigue with their hypo problems, some are hashi's as well and other's have had RAI --or surgery to their thyroid---many different variations to this illness- all we can do is try and understand and offer support and links and opinions!!! I really don't think there is one answer to all our problems. I do think nutrition support is the utmost thing you can do to help your body. But you really need testing to check for minerals, hormones -- vitamins and food. They do play a very important role in this illness and I think everyone can see that. It would be very intersting if we could compose some sort of data to see if anything matchs up!!!!! tina > Tina, > My hair did not grow back but I had super thick hair so the loss is > noticable but not a problem.I stopped losing so it is fine now.My first > Dr. was great because he listened to me and I would bring him things > from the internet I printed. He would read them and we discussed > different meds.We started the conversion protocol for Thyrolar which was > to up my dosage every two months to the highest dose of Thyrolar > III(150mcg T4 and 37.5mcg T3)to see if that was my problem.Well he left > while I was on Thyrolar II and so I just requested the highest dosage > from the next in line Dr. at the same office and they gave it to me.I do > think I have a conversion problem. As for the goiter,I have never had > that problem,UNTIL,.I went off my meds completly for a month. My face > swelled like crazy and I couldn't swallow so I am sure that was the > problem there.I started back on meds and swelling went down.I know that > the meds are helping but I felt worse on them than off but I had to get > the swelling to go away.Anyway, sorry for the long post:) > Deneen:) > > > >
Guest guest
Tina, your daughter has hashi's. I didn't realize that. Wouldn't it be funny if you could call that doctor and say, can I fax you something saying how low temperatures aren't good. That's pretty rediculous that they told her that. Glad that she knew better (from you). Does anyone know if iodine from the sea (in seaweeds and fish) is better than the iodine in table salt? ----Original Message Follows---- From: " tina83862 " <tina8386@...> Reply-hypothyroidism hypothyroidism Subject: Re: Armour--do you have problems with weight/brain fog Date: Sat, 11 Oct 2003 05:04:33 -0000 You never know what we can find!!! _________________________________________________________________ Frustrated with dial-up? Guest guest
No she doesn't have hashi's I'll go recheck what I've written to make you think that, but we don't know if she has any auto-antibodies to the adrenal gland, that test was not done yet. Kelp has many other vitamins and minerals attached to it as well as iodine, matter of fact from that website on sea veggies, the iron in kelp is easier to absorb. This is why she is sprinkling it on her salads and adding it to eggs. You really can't taste much of it either. So it's not terrible to use. IT was really cheap to buy too, I took the kelp and even refined it down further, with my coffee grinder!!! heheh---so she has ziplock bags of nori, duluce and kelp to add to her food (once a day though, no more)And you can buy it in a salt shaker too, we did that as well. I didn't know what she would use. > Tina, your daughter has hashi's. I didn't realize that. Guest guest
la not having exactly Hashi's does not mean she does not have some auto-immune problem though, this has been on my mind an awful lot, thanks for thinking about it . She was sick twice the year before, once with a very bad case of the flu, and another time when she went to Mexico---so she could have picked up something????? This is why I am using a lot of nutrients, more in food than in pills even though it sounds like I am giving her so many vitamins, we try very hard to find what she needs first from food. That is the best way it's absorbed!!!!!! like selenium the best way to get the most of it is brazil nuts--and I just found out mushrooms--yea we eat a lot of that!!! Problem with this illness is many have absorbtion problems as well!!! I go crazy with this just as much as you guys!!!!! -- In hypothyroidism , " tina83862 " <tina8386@a...> wrote: > No she doesn't have hashi's I'll go recheck what I've written to > make you think that, but we don't know if she has any auto- antibodies > to the adrenal gland, that test was not done yet. > Kelp has many other vitamins and minerals attached to it as well as > iodine, matter of fact from that website on sea veggies, the iron in > kelp is easier to absorb.
