Guest guest
Its very important not to eat before a workout because you want your body to be in a " semi-fasting " mode. Your body has two main sources of energy: stored fat and stored carbohydrates. When you eat or drink before a workout, your bodies insulin levels rise, especially if you have eaten a simple carb. It takes two hours to process this through your bloodstream. So, your body will be in " burn-carb " mode instead of burn fat mode. Thus, you havent made any progress... You want to have little or NO food in your digestive system before a workout. If you feel that you have too little energy to get thru the workout, try it anyway... about fifteen or twenty minutes in, your body will have summoned the energy for you! It's hard to get past that first sluggish fifteen minutes though. I know, I used to feel as if I would fall asleep while on the treadmill, but somehow I got thru! If you still feel as if you can't do it, just go for half the workout.. It still puts you further ahead than if you had eaten. And eventually make you into an efficient fat burner. C.
