Guest guest
Greetings all, Although new to this AIH business, I too have seen people get that look of " Is this guy contagious? " when I have to politely explain why I really don't want to have a beer or a glass of wine. The best way I've found of getting around that " look " is to describe AIH as " arthritis of the liver " . This seems to work as they don't associate arthritis with the concept of infectious. Waiting for my latest LFT numbers as I write this. I haven't felt this nervous since I was back in school writing finals. Fingers (and many other parts as well) are crossed but I suspect things haven't changed since April's biopsy. Guest guest
Get the same thing. We need to find another name for this disease! Hope your labs are ok. I understand the pressure on the waiting front. I normally ring every 5 mins to see if the results are in. Have a good one Mark mcgray@... Guest guest
, Good luck with your numbers. I got mine today. AST normal for the first time in 2 1/2 years ALT 86 best it has ever been and the others are coming down also. Great feeling. Only problem is that going withdrawal from weaning off pred. to low too quick they tell me have to increase it for a little while yet. Terrible side affects from it. But at least the good news is the numbers are going the right way this time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for good results. Sue B. Guest guest
: I like telling people that I have AIH because they look like they have to back up to talk to you. I do not lie to them but when I tell them what it is, I also end with saying that they will not get it like chicken pox etc. People are so dumb sometimes. Guest guest
I agree about the name. I always tell people I have an auto-immune disorder. And then explain that my immune system is attacking my liver. They understand that a little easier and don't ask if it is contagious. Still it is hard for people to understand that I have a liver disease when I look perfectly fine. So when I say I am tired no one seems to understan what I am saying like our fellow AIH members. Hope you are feeling well! Take care Lisel
