Guest guest
--- Gracia. My doctors idea is that the thyroid gland might restart...it happened to him, so after a blood test, we will see if the thyroid is restarted. If not, I will keep my Armour. I will keep you posted. ___________________________________________________________In hypothyroidism , " Gracia " <circe@...> wrote: > > > this might work for you but the " loading dose of Iodoral is 50mg (4 caps) > for 3 months. http://www.optimox.com This is what I am doing. Guest guest
Hello, Masiste (or Val?),(I think I am responding to Masiste's comment about Iodoral Iodine, but am unsure because the actual email was not signed.) Your comment re. Iodoral Iodine is very interesting and it may be just the thing for you. I will share only my experience with it which may or may not be relevant for you. I have hypothyroidism without autoimmune involvement. In January of this year (2006), my TSH was 6.29. In that same month, my health care practitioner recommended that I begin Iodoral Iodine loading (50mg: 12.5mg 4x/day). By March, my TSH had jumped to 11.7 and on May 2nd, it was 21.2. Since this was the only real change we'd made, it finally became clear that I was one of the ones (since then, we've learned that this is true for some with hypothyroidism, a bit more frequently it seems with Hashimoto's (autoimmune involved) hypothryoidism. Well, you can bet that I am off iodine supplementation for a while! It became obvious that even before the Iodoral Iodine loading fiasco, a much smaller amount of iodine supplementation had been too much. I mention this, not because Iodoral Iodine supplmentation (or iodine supplementation in itself) is necessarily problematic, but just sharing that it is important for some of us to be very alert to the results of taking extra iodine and to be aware, also, that many who are hyping the Iodoral Iodine loading program rarely mention that it can be a problem for some people. Let the patient be ware. I feel lucky we caught the problem as soon as we did, but this was possible only because I am currently having my TSH, etc. checked every other month and watching for patterns. I hate to think what might have happened if I had gone on merrily taking the iodine for many months or even longer. This is my first posting on Hypothyrodism. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with you guys.
