Guest guest
Carie, I have a devation or curve or sever angulation how ever you wnat to say it. my first surgery did not work well and I just had my second surgery on 21 May. The curve is due to the "E" being streched to far due to the disease. If you have any questions you may e-mail me any time. We can even talk by messenger ot MSN Mesengertoo if you like. in Suffolk
Guest guest
I was not doing well after my first surgery. I had a lot of pain and it got to the point that I could not even drink again. My first surgery was done lapro and I also had a partial wrap done. I moved out of country so i needed to find another doctor. I found a specialist and he ran tests and felt that the wrap was to tight or not placed right. He also felt that the myotomy was not as long as it could be. He also felt that I had a hiatus hernia. The second surgery was done open and the doctor took down the wrap and extended the myotomy further down on the stomach. I did not have a hernia so that was good. I am doing much better now. I have no pain when I eat and I can eat anything I want again. Sometimes it goes down a little slow so I have a lot to drink with my meals. I do not know what else might happen in the future but here is hoping I am done with surgery for a long while. I would suggest looking for a specialist so that you can get eating better. You might have to have some test over again but in the end if it help correct the problem that is just a small speed bump to deal with. I hope this help you out. in Suffolk
Guest guest
I do not know that answer. There are options for that surgery though. They can pull up the stomach or use some of the large intestine to replace the removed part of "E". I do not know if you have your "E" replaced if you will have more problems. There might be others in the group that can help better answer that. I would write down those type of questions sp when you fine a new surgeon you can ask them. Sorry I cannot help more than that. in Suffolk
Guest guest
I do not think it cures the disease. From my understanding it is a last resort surgery. I could be worng in that though. in Suffolk

Guest guest
I’ve had 2 surgeries now, one lap and one open. Doc gave me 5 years for this last one to last, its been 3. UGH. My question is that if the E is removed is there any way that this disease would return? I don’t know if anyone knows this answer but its worth a shot of asking, I’m getting tired of dealing with it ever 3-4 years. I may go for the removal if offered to me!!! Guest guest
Well I already know that I will go back to CC in Ohio. I just have to play the medical field to get there, like I did before. Thanks though. From: achalasia [mailto:achalasia ] On Behalf Of m4myjn5@... The decision comes down to whether there are negative consequences to not having an esophagus and how they might compare to the problems caused by a severe case of 'A'. .. Guest guest
Hi Kay, Read your post. It depends if your talking HepC or thyroid? I am in the U.K. experimenting with Armour Thyroid, and weaning myself off synthetic hormones. There are U.K. and Irish people who have posted here that I am aware of on the list from the British Isles, because they happen to have already said where they are from.
