Whats the best time frame to test after a new dose

Just wondering what you all think the proper amount of time for

testing after you have taken a new dose. Is it 6 or 8 or 12 weeks?

Synthorid is what I was taking.

The book recommendation is 6 weeks minimum. That is because the

biological half life of T4 is about a week. That means at a maintenance

dose level, it takes several weeks to build up in concentration to a

relatively stable point. However, if you are in good cardiac health, you

can probably push that a little. On my second step, I showed up at my

doctor's office a little early at four weeks, and he went ahead and

changed the dose. He probably made the next increment a little smaller

to compensate. :)

Eventually, we got it right, though.
