Sauerkraut is good to have because it aids digestion. I can't recall what the best kinds are to buy. Maybe someone else has this information. > What about vanilla extract (strange question I > know) which is great in almond milk? Most vanilla extracts are artificial. Real vanilla would be almost prohibitive to buy because it would cost dearly. Vanilla extracts are typically extracted in 35% ethanol (alcohol), and sugar or glycerin is added to preserve flavor and aroma and although you would use such a small amount it is best not to use it. Stevia is a better safer sweetener to use, in small amounts of course. Even Stevia can contribute to cravings for sugar. Hugs, Bee

Maybe the kind of vanilla you buy does not have added sugar but it appears as if one of the organic compounds of vanilla is sugar as well, unless I'm reading this one wrong. See what you think - www.cookswares.com/discussions/vanilla2.asp I couldn't get the entire url but the information about adding sugar is at: http://www.botgard.ucla.edu/ and then use search to find vanilla. Or do a google search using chemical compound, vanilla bean. I have a bottle of Pure Vanilla Extract with the ingredients listed as: Filtered water, alcohol, organic vanilla bean extractives, and vegetable glycerine. Guest guest
Carol You can get vanilla beans and scrape the insides for real vanilla! A bit pricey (here anyway), but you can be certain that nothing has been added Irene Re: [ ] sauerkraut & vanilla extract Ok Bee. You've got me there. Guest guest
Heck ,you can easily make vanilla extract, Gently smash the bean and place in a small bottle about 2-4 ounces, then cover with vodka and let sit for about 4 weeks... you will have great vanilla.. Do 2 bottles so you will always have some. Re: [ ] sauerkraut & vanilla extract Ok Bee. You've got me there. I ONLY ever buy REAL vanilla extract and NEVER imitation. Is that FALSE advertising?
